I called All About Fish and he wants 80 cents a gallon for his water. And currently I am waiting for my shipment for my RO filters. Any one ever test their water? I am specifically talking about the one off of 518 and 2351 but I am open to what others have found. A refill there is only 29 cents a gallon.

I needed some extra water the other day and went to a water mill station and I was only getting 1 tds. Maybe you can try one close to you.

Bring your TDS meter with you and test just one gallon, when good you can fill up your jugs.
Btw, there's a reason why it's $0.29 :shower:

Oh and there's a reason too why it's $0.80 :flush:

So I've been using RO/DI water from a Kroger near the medical center and I swear it has phosphates in it. I don't have actual proof, but my phosphates always seem to be up when after adding their water. I don't have actual proof though, but I need to test the phosphates before/after a water change.

I actually want to stop using them, but I don't know where else to get my RO/DI water. :confused2:

You know we have some LFS close to you.
Still I would bring a tester to test.

I'll just go ahead and get distilled water from Kroger. At 77 cents its cheaper than going to Kevins and less of a hassle . My RO membrane filter should be here next week. I just don't want to wait. My rock and sand will be here Friday and I want to have something to do with the tank this weekend.

I don't think its bad if you'd have of fish with live rock only kind of tank but I would say don't do it for reef tank.

I used to get water from Kevin but tested it one day and it read 35 Tds. Same with aqua zoo.

That would explain why I started having problems. From now on its my water or distilled from the store. I test those and its ZERO. Trust the numbers!

Sealed distilled water. Krogers brand would be .77 cents a gallon. Not the refillable stuff.

Oh, ok... I've been using the refillable stuff on my 14G Biocube, and it seems to be giving me issues. I didn't know that regular distilled water is fine for your tank, since it doesn't go through "reverse osmosis." Is that true?

They're slightly different. Distilled water is actually boiling the water and collecting the condensation as it cools again, so it produces pure water. De-ionized water only removes foreign ions, like heavy metals. The de-ionized water retains some impurities, like calcium and the like. Thats why you cant use RODI when using the Hanna Calcium Checker. Calcium is still present.

Same here. Thats why from now on I will only use distilled water or my own RO. Anything else is unexceptionable. That is unless you want to drive to fish gallery. At least there its only something like 40 cents a gallon.
