Prepaid....BAM! I cut and pasted previous response that stated they should be shipping mid month July.
Since I’m out in the middle of BFE, I’m used to waiting.

FWIW I think there's a misnomer about the model numbers. The Mazarra Series is in a sense the "G3"....won’t be any further refinement of previous lineup. I may be wrong, but that’s how I understand it.
I’m sure someone in the US has a beta model, they've just been sworn to not post about it....plenty spotted in Asia @ Aquarama albeit some pre production models in the mix.

Call me stupid but I looked on the maxspect usa site today and did not see them. Was your communication with maxspect or slippery little suckers?

the US distributor is finsreef. they have not updated there website, all email correspondance.

i only posted here, not on RC. im being greedy, dont want too many people to bombard them with pre-order requests. dont mind sharing with H-town peeps  keep it hush hush for now

Just posted here today! Dang I want these!

it seems they've broadened the distributorship for the US quite a bit. there's a long laundry list now.

first gen, was only fishstreet out of china, 2nd gen inlcuded single international dealers for each country...now everyone and their mother. if i had the patience, i would wait a few months and get the non-cree version 3x for 899., vs 1599 for the cree version, which seems like a great price point for a lighting system.

i dont have patience and can justify it in my head, costwise.

Anybody do some real deal research or have opinions on the rebel and bridgelux LEDs? How do they stack up against the current standard, Cree xpe's? I'm trying to make a comparison between AIs and these Mazarra fixtures without counting aesthetics and mounting of the fixtures themselves. Just performance, or speculative performance at this point. They seem to be close enough in price point. 16 LEDS versus 24. So what's up LED gurus?

For that you may have to hit up evil on nano reef or the lighting section on rc.
most if not all people will tell you to stick with crees.
i was going to buy some bridgelux for next build from china, but i dont need to anymore.

Keep us updated! I'm keeping my eye on these. They would be perfect on my tank. Have you heard a definite date on which they will ship?

Check out the Orphek units, they arent dimmable but they are the only LEDs that I have seen that include UV emitting LEDs which is a must for coral phosphorescence.

Cody,

word on the street is they will ship next week. hopefully it wont be too long before i get my hands on them, but folks in the states will definately have them a week before i do. one thing you might consider is waiting for the next model, the S series to come out in August, which will be considerably less in cost. for your cube, you'd probably want 6x modules, which will come be around 1800 retail. ive heard of some folks getting preorder discounts, as much as 20% (i wont say how much i got, but i did
get a discount).

1800 x 20% off = 1440 for six modules, and a controller. same as the AI's, this unit should be able to put out some heavy duty par running at 300 watts, just wont have the 5 watters in them. i can justify the purchase in my hed, heck im living rent free, tax free, and debt free. :p

Food for thought
ill post some pics when i get the unit in house.

Is there any info on the S series? Why are they coming out with a new model one month after this release? Whats the difference between the two?

This will explain the differences between the two. its the same option level you can get with the previous generations, i.e. two variations. to be honest, i think the S series is just fine, and if they were released at the same time, i would order them.

see the list of colors. you can fully customize whatever lighting combination you want.

i think most AI users would agree, they have there lights turned down to 50% power or so...just to keep from not roasting there corals.

I got just one set for now. It will still be a few months before this tank will see any life. And yes, the old lady did about kill me, but that's life. And I got a small discount. I am a person that thrives on instant gratification so waiting is going to freaking kill me!
