Yeah, I talked to her about that already. We have a 10 gal with nothing in it atm. It has been set up for about 6 months now, and I just never got around to putting anything into it. I have a wheel type filter on it and a 600 powerhead in it. Still need to buy a fake anonemy.

EDIT: it was supposed to be a sick/quarinteen tank

We should be home, don't have anything planned other than a house full of boys for our eldest boy's birthday. Feel free to come on over. Just let us know what time and PM either one of us if you need phone number/directions.

I guess I should clarify that on Sunday we will only be home between 2 and 6pm because of church.

Update:

I'm without my borrowed camera at the moment, so I don't have any new pics to share, but I will give descriptions.

The oldest babies are now three plus months old and beginning to get the black outlines on all their other fins, and the largest of those are over an inch long, including tails. Some have already been sold to those who were on the waiting list, and others are very close to being ready to go to their new homes. :)

It's taken a lot of dedication and time for this moment, but I am very pleased with how my little children have turned out. They are happy, healthy and very, very spoiled little ones. They rush to the top of the water any time I get near, and, of course, I feed them. They eat everything I give them, and will eat from my hand. Some will even swim into my cupped hand so that I could literally take them out in my hand if I wanted to.

Nemo, the solitaire, is doing very well. He's been in a tank with the hatch that came after him. That hatch is the fastest growing so far, with two in particular as big as some in the first hatch. I am planning to transfer them out and put them in with the first hatch soon.

The last babies, of which there are three survivors, are getting their second stripes now and are doing very well. There is another hatch coming up tomorrow, so I am hopeful about them.

Anyway, that's the latest for those of you still following along. :D

Karen,

It was a pleasure meeting you this evening.

My little crew has made the transition into their temporary home and are now hosting in rubber anemone, where they will stay for a while before I put them into the big tank.

All of them seem very active, and no lasting signs of stress from the move.

Mike, that's great!! :D I'd love to see a pic of them in their new home.

The larvae that hatched last night are doing great and are eating the rotifers well already, because their bellies are getting rounder and rounder. I am estimating around 60 have made it their first 24 hours of life, and a couple of water changes later. I am very hopeful about this hatch. They appear very vigorous, but I'm not going to be comfortable until they've reached the end of day three. We'll see how it goes.

Just transferred clownfish around, including the last hatch which I put into a larger tank. There's 78 of the newest ones. :D They are almost 2 weeks old now. I had a slight accident while transferring a few of them, and they ended up on a towel.......eeek......so I had to gently pick them up with my fingertip and then put them into the water. At first a couple of them just lay on the bottom gasping for about a minute, and then they started swimming around with the others. Close call!! So far they seem just fine, and that was several hours ago. Those little buggers are tough.

Altogether I have 159 clowns right now, not including the ones I've already sold. I can safely say I'm starting to run out of space to put their tanks.

My offer still stands. My two are doing great. Let me know.

Also, are you gonna make a dummys guide with photo's showing every step of the way? It would take me a month to gather all the stuiff from all of the posts you have. :)

Basicly what I don't understand at this point, is, what food at what stage, and where do you get the food from. Other things I have heard and do not understand is the bubbeling method to keep them afloat until they are morphed and able to swim on their own. Help a reefer out.

I would love to give it a shot if I could find someone with a spare batch for me to pick up.

Actually, I have written an article. I just haven't published it to the board yet. I was trying to decide if I needed to make any changes or additions to it. And it includes pictures. :D Basically it's a refined version of the one I have posted in the "how to raise clownfish" thread I started.

If you REALLY want to raise some, I've got three 3-week-old individuals that are too small to put with larger ones, and they're too large to put with this new hatch, and they are taking up valuable tank space. I was hoping to put them in with the new hatch next week sometime, but it will depend on how fast they grow. I've just gotten them weaned onto crushed flakes, so you wouldn't even need to hatch brine or any of that, unless you just wanted to give them some. In another couple of weeks, they should be able to choke down a frozen brine shrimp or two.

I could take those, but I am also interested in trying the whole shabang. From the time they leave daddys mouth to adulthood. I think the whole process would be awesome. Let me know on the others and I can arange to get up there and get them.

Well, right now Lesd is GENEROUSLY donating the eggs that his clowns lay for me to raise. Basically I go get the rock out of his tank that the eggs are laid on, then transfer it to a hatch tank at my house the night they're expected to hatch. (The male doesn't hold them in his mouth, BTW.) Then after the eggs have hatched, I give the rock back ASAP, and the whole process starts again. If you know someone on your side of town with clowns that are laying, you could definitely try it. I have tried doing this long distance with someone on the south side, but it wasn't working out due to the logistics. Lesd lives 5 minutes from me, which makes it very convenient and least stressful for the eggs. You might try and take some newly hatched larvae from one of my hatches to raise, but they are very, very delicate for the first three days, and you'd risk transfer damage. It would be much safer to wait at least until after they morph, which for these guys generally happens between days 6 and 8.
