I would not mess with your effluent flow rate once set.
reducing your Co2 bubble count is a lot easier.

Unless you are using a Cole-Parmer pump. :whoo:

But yeah, i'll usually try to reduce the c02. Save some pennies that way.
Raising the effluent rate a little bit might even raise your Alk. PH might be a little lower in the reactor but you are adding more of it to the tank. And the more effluent you are adding, the more chance of lowering your tank pH.
Better to reduce the C02.

Wait till I have my new Hemi Diesel 6.7L pump running on my CaRx........... my SPS will have sparks flying from the speed they grow.

Jason-

How's the calcium reactor working so far? A little more stable?

alk seems pretty high. Mag is fine. Don't go over 1400 unless you are trying to kill of hair algae or something.

Typical problem with using calcium reactor, controlling higher DKH.

Mine stays right around 8.4 dkh. Shouldn't be a problem holding it anywhere you'd like.

Takes a while to fine tune. I bet you started the same way plus you have a much higher water volume. That's why calcium reactor is not ideal for every tank. Also depends on tank alkalinity consumption.

What makes a huge different is a good CO2 regulator. It's very difficult to fine tune unless you have an electronic regulator like the planted electronic regulator. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

Yeah, its those dang cheap needle valves. Blow on it and it changes your bubble count!
The Carbon Doser from planted tanks was real nice. And my new dual stage I built is fantastic.
You also need a good pump for a steady effluent flow.
As always, good equipment makes a big diff vs the cheap stuff.

Lets see this dual stage. ........

Sure, here ya go.
I got all the parts off eBay. The Parker Veriflow reg itself is around $1k if bought new. But I built the whole thing for around $350.
All stainless parts, including the Burkert Solenoid. Mostly Swagelok fittings, and a Hoke 1300 series metering valve.
There is a big thread on ReefCentral buy a guy name Alan that shows you how to build one with lots of examples.
It's regulator porn!
And you end up with a reg that should last a lifetime, uber stable, no C02 dumps, easy to adjust, etc.
The solenoid will wear out eventually but they're around $80 i think... less for brass.
I didn't add a bubble counter to mine because I had one on the reactor already.
