And what do extra things does one need to do when they own a clam? As if I wasn't doing anything right now to the tank besides water changes and feeding the fish mysis shrimp (I feed more than that one item, but in this example, I am not).
I wanted to get one for my tank as well since I now have VHOs. I suppose I could look around for some derasa, but isn't there another type that does well under VHOs?
I hear that Squamosas will do well under VHO as well. I am currently looking for a nice healthy one or a Derasas as well. I like that one nick just picked up. I usual only see maximus at CP.
You can keep Hippopus hippopus as well but they aren't very pretty. There was one in the pictures that incysor posted from Village Tropical...I think it was the 4th picture from the bottom.
Either derasa and or squamosa clams will do fair under less intense lighting. As the mantle pattern intensifies the lighting needs to be intense to keep the mantle coloration.
I'm still taking names for anyone who wants to get in on a group order from www.clamsdirect.com. PM me if you are interested. They get lots of deresa clams.
