I got a wall hammer today, and it has what looks like fire coral growing on it as well. The reason I believe it is fire coral is when trying to place the hammer, my hand would itch and kinda burn/sting. And I also googled it and looks like it.
Is fire coral bad for the other corals??

I had a huge patch of it a few years back. It is not a true coral but it is a beast!!!! The poracysts will fire into anything that touches it. Finger, fish, coral, crab, politicians, even old ladies with a wallet full of grandbaby pictures. If you can isolate it on its own rock though it is really kind of cool. It will encrust and as it matures it will grow digits like an evil.... well you get the idea. Very hardy.

Had one for several years. It was an interesting addition to the reef. But, If you get close, BAM! Stingin and burnin for a bit.
