Praziquantel:
Praziquantel can be used in liquid form or powdered form. Powdered form is recommended as it doesn’t have the reducing agent Oxybispropanol found in PraziPro (liquid form), which makes it technically safe to dose with other medications. An example of powdered form is API General Cure, which is Praziquantel with Metronizole.

Praziquantel + Copper
Praziquantel + Chloroquine Phosphate (Only in powder form, PraziPro will not work)
Praziquantel + Antibiotics
Praziquantel + Malachite Green

@Reefaholic:

General Cure instructions say to mix first dose packet, wait 48 hours, 25% water change, dose second packet and 25% water change after another 48 hours. I assume that if some of us are not making water changes through the Copper Power treatment, we should wait until the 30 day treatment is over, then a 100% water change and dose General Cure? Or is it better to just start dosing General Cure, make the required water change(s) and bring back the Copper Power to therapeutic level?

This afternoon I checked the water that she was dipped in, there are several tiny black specks in it. I just did a partial water change and dosed API GC.

Man hope she pulls through. My only experience with velvet, it kills pretty quickly. So the fact that she is looking better & eating if a good sign.

Mine had some light spots on it at first also might agree with stress

At this point I think it was stress combined with flukes. I saw at least 8 flukes on that fish. It's always better to assume Velvet with severe discoloration like that... so the fish can be treated just as a precautionary treatment. Fish with these kind of price tags shouldn't be played around with, because if it is Velvet, the fish could die in a matter of hours. Tangs are very strong fish and typically do fairly well with most treatments and dips.

I have had her for 3 weeks now. No treatment was done during the first week as I wanted her to start eating. During the second week I dosed Prazipro twice 3 day apart, I then did a 100% water change. On Tuesday this week I started the Chloroquine Phosphate treatment. On Wednesday I did a 5 minutes FW dip. Thursday I dosed API GC.

What day did you notice any symptoms?

I have this big boy in my 40g office tank and he isn't happy. He turns almost white most of the time (except when I feed him). So yes, the light color is caused by stress. He/she will calm down in time, once it's in your dt with other fish. The main things to watch in qt is...is it eating, and watch watch watch that ammonia level. Oh, did I mention watch that ammonia level? gem.jpg
