So my dwarf Angel (Potters) passed a way a few weeks ago, I had him for almost 8 years and he was full grown when I got him. Looking to replace him and looking at the different dwarfs available I think the golden angel looks to be one of the coolest ones...

Reading online they seem more timid than most other dwarfs... Anyone have any personal experience with them?

It'd be the 5th fish in my Waterbox 130. After it, I'll throw in the two tangs that dominate the tank. So it'll have a chance to settle first.

Super cool fish but super finicky eater...

bought one from LA few years back but it would not eat anything. Basically starved to death in a few months.

This fish do not buy online. You wanna make sure it’s eating.

OLA had one and it was eating frozen food. Price was reasonable at $200.

I saw the one at OLA on Friday, it's a pretty fish.
Nice, really thinking of grabbing it as long as it's eating. I just want to throw it in the new tank before the Tang's go in. I always liked dwarf angels and have pretty good success with them in the past at not picking at too much coral. We'll see. Maybe I should invest in a fish trap lol.

This has been an expensive weekend for the hobby.

years ago I had luck with Flame and Lemon Peal Angels Coral Beauties are nice to look at as well. I thought all 3 were hardy and reef compatable plus reasonably priced. As I said it was a while ago so do some research.

Generally I've had success with dwarf angels before. Sometimes they'll pick on something. The last one picked on Acan's so I didn't keep acans in that tank.

I ended up picking up the Golden at OLA. Ate really well, he's currently going through acclimation for the QT tank.

I picked out a nice healthy Golden once. She was beautiful. She also had excellent taste in corals. She immediately ate the tissue off the most expensive SPS frags in the tank. She ignored the cheap corals - only the best would do! I ultimately took out half the rock in the tank to catch her. (Returned her to store for credit with a warning.)

Exactly why I have been hesitant about adding the Goldflake Juvi. I have. I’m afraid it will develop a taste for fine corals just like your Golden did..

Smart fish! Yeah it's a risk I know. We'll see how it goes.

That’s pretty much with any angel. I think the larger angels are less destructive vs the dwarf but that’s just my opinion. [emoji4]

Really or are you jerking my chain? Lol

I would love to put the gold flake and a regal in my tank. I do so ever want them!

^^^Regal should be fine for sure (buy it small to medium size).

Not sure about the gold flake. Few friends complained about it nipping.

Take it from someone who is Italian decent... Bigger is better get an Emperor angel ha ha .. I have had this one for 1.5 years and has not touched my corals so far. He loves sea weed the best. You have to have a big tank

ok what types of corals do Emperors like? I will avoid them. I just want a basic show tank as a decoration. Then there is humidity. They say humidity in your home should be between 40 and 60% too low and you can have viruses in the air too high you can have mold and dust mites. Mine is 72 so I have a bit of work to do. I am 1 km from the great lakes system and have huge shade trees that will stay plus I am on clay.

we don't need to derail Tenny's thread about the Golden angel he just got. There are plenty of posts on various forums about which corals angelfish are more likely to go after (a lot of the LPS mostly).
