Well after moving half way across the country and crying a while after breaking down my 450G, my 28G cube isn't going to cut it.
A little history on me. I was/am a member of DFWMAS since 1998, had several tanks up to 135 there. 5 years ago we moved to Atlanta and I setup a dream in wall 450G. It was awesome and unfortunately I had to break it down as I relocated for a job.
Anyway I'm on Beaumont now.
We aren't sure how long I'll be here either though so I don't want to set up anything very big. Actually my wife won't let me set up anything huge until I can have another fish room
Anyway, A few options.
1) an Oceanic or AGA 54 gallon corner tank, I had a 92 corner about 10 years ago and it was one of my favorites but sumps and lighting tend to be big issues. The other disadvantage of this is that I would probably need to build a custom stand and canopy and the sump area is extremely difficult because of the odd shape.
2) a rimless 24x24x24 cube, several vendors, I'm open to suggestions. I would hang one pendant and probably have a stand made to match the cabinets in my house. The downside is this will be the most expensive option since the tanks are big $$ and I would have to have a good looking light pendant.
3) Same as #2 except not rimless and build a canopy to match the stand. While I would save some on the tank and lights the canopy would probably offset that so it's more just a look preference.
4) Just set back up my 28G and quit whining By far the cheapest, no sump, stand looks funny in our house, etc.
5) Others???
What would you do. I certainly don't want to say money is no object but I do want to get what long term will be the best even if it is a few extra bucks.
