I'm stocking up on batteries for my battery operated air pumps and have several 2-liters of water frozen in the freezer.

I would like to get a generator but so far that hasn't happened.

PS. Now a Cat 4 with 145mph sustained winds, lets hope that track stays south.

Agreed. I picked up a generator, so I imagine it will run my chiller (which I've gladly not sold yet, though it's not hooked up to my tank). Though I hate to wish on anyone else, I won't be sad if it stays south.

When I had my power outage up here, it wasn't hot yet. Just running my return pump and VorTechs, the tank didn't get hot enough for me to worry.

Circulation is key. You don't need to run things like skimmers, phosban reactors, lighting, etc... Powerheads pull less power and don't add too much heat to your tank, but be sure something is rippling the surface of the water to maintain gas exchange.

If you have a sump and/or refugium, you'll probably want a powerhead in there as well if you can't run the return pump.

There is a gas additive that you can add to your gas that you are storing to make it last longer. I say stock up on gas and when the storm passes then just us it in your cars. That way you are well prepared and you lose nothing.
