Need some help....Just looked in my little 10gal anemone tank I just set up and noticed a few hundred little white looking fleas if you will. They are tiny....I mean very tiny, not larger like a pod would look like. Although I am no pod expert so maybe they are and its not that big of a deal. I want to put a pair of clowns in there and if these are bad I don't want to and I need to clear them out.

Any ideas?

Pods, good thing. Amphipods, copepods. Aka zooplankton. Think of them as reef bugs. Everybody in the reef habitat enjoy munching on them. Loaded with protein and other goodies. Check them out after lights out with a red light. fun to watch.

Fleas??? If it's a new tank then it's probably smaller pods that will blow up and then die off unless you dose some phyto to keep em going.

Are they round when you look at them with a magnifying glass? Or oblong? I have thousands of small white round guys crawling in my H. Zosterae tank. I borrowed a mesoscope and it looks like they are Ostracods (or seed shrimp). I took some photos that I hope to add to MARSH later today. These things are everywhere and for some reason they don't appear to be kept in check by the dwarfs. I had added a pod culture to the tank a few times but these multiply like crazy. They are even crawling on the dwarfs. I will also try to get a video later today to upload. It is amazing how busy and quick they are.

If they appear oblong they are probably a type of copepod.
