the ro/di unit im looking at getting!?!

This is the ro/di unit I'm looking at getting. Is this over kill? Or do I need to purchase the chloramine unit I live in seabrook but don't pay for water so I have no idea who my water is through so I don't if they use chloramines or what ever its called in my water. I just know the water taste like s#*@ lol any input would b nice. I do really like the digital dts meter and all the nice extras

I would probably get a chloramine unit anyway, since most of the area is going to surface water and that is what uses the chloramines to clean it. Have you looked at our sponsor, Buckeye Field Supply? Russ has some very good units at great prices. I have a system with the DM1 dual TDS meter, and Russ can put together a complete system for you with just what you need. You can get the system with the drinking water tank and sink tap too.

I think That's about as good as your gonna do with that rock. What you need is a few very large pieces and maybe some shelf pieces to give it more height and make it more dramatic.
or get some acrylic rods and drill some holes and get creative.

go thru this and see if there is anything you like, that you can try and mimic:

Felix, were would I get some acrylic rods from? The hardest thing for me is to come up with a scape I like since my over flows r on the back wall in stead of full corner. This tank is really starting to piss me off. I think I just need a lil hands on help from someone more experienced. I can't seem to get this to look right. I thought my tank was a nice
size till I added the rock now its not wide enough...

You might want to look into the magnetic reef rock also. It has a flat side with magnets so you can attach it to your back wall. Pretty cool stuff.

what you can do is hard plump all the way up to the bulk heads and then use a small piece of vinyl tubing to connect it. you will need a barb fitting connecting on the other end. lowes have them in the pvc section.

it's that or replace the bulkheads.

I know The Filter Guys sell some of it. You can do a google search to find different kinds. Here's some pics also.

Here is one online chart:

http://www.savko.com/portal/bulkhead.asp

Not sure but different mfg. may have different recommended hole sizes so keep that in mind. I would suggest the heavy duty variety of bulkhead. You want a bulkhead that is threaded on the inside of the stem. If it is, for example, a 1" bulkhead, then you would need to purchase a 1" threaded male PVC connection to screw into the bulkhead.

Side note: I just plumbed my new tank and as a first-time plumber had to work through many of the same question you probably have. I posted in the DIY section about some leaks I was having with my threaded connections and got an excellent tip to use Rectoseal T Plus 2 instead of teflon tape on all my threaded connections. Worked like a charm.

Ok I went and got some drive way markers from home depot, to try a different approach on the aquascape and to no avail I still suck at this. Here's a pic.
