Well, after more than a year of being aquarium-less (I'm not counting the frag tank), I finally got the new setup started. The tank is a custom 90-gallon AGE rimless aquarium that I officially ordered today. The dimensions are 36"x24"x24" with 3 sides Starphire glass, black silicone, a PVC bottom, an internal overflow box centrally mounted on the back wall. All that will sit on a mocha colored "Euro-style" aquarium stand that is very reminiscent of the Elos stands.

I ordered the tank today from Fish Gallery, who were extremely helpful as they always are. The setup should take no more than 6-8 weeks to arrive at the store, but I'm told that the build and delivery won't actually take that long.

As for the rest of the equipment, that's all really up in the air. I will most likely go with an ATI Powermodule, but the LED craze has me very curious. I don't have plans for a sump currently, so I'm still working that out. Flow will probably come from a Tunze/VorTech combo setup, and the rock work will be very minimalistic.

For the livestock, I will lean heavily on SPS as I always have, but I'm going to try to do things kind of differently this time around. I think all of my Zoas will be on their own little island, and I will have more LPS this time around. Clams will of course be present, as I'm a total clam junkie.

Stay tuned for tons more updates as this and my blog will be the primary locations for all my pictures, videos, and other updates.

Are you going to let it cycle naturally, or bring in live sand and live rock to speed it up?

So.... Pretty much a traditional mixed reef.

Grin.

Interesting build thread. Reminds me of Naka's tank with the way you describe it.

I'm subscribing to this thread for sure!

how much did you spend on the tank?
lol...too much. but i managed to save myself about a thousand bucks by ordering it through fg as opposed to dealing with an age/fg rep over email. i think there was a bit of confusion on his end. regardless, the wife's much happier that i got it for a lot less than what we originally thought.

you're too funny.

i will definitely taking a different route than i'm used too. sure, there will be sps, lps, clams, and various other inverts, but it will be species i have never kept before and are the live rock structure will be far different.

i will start with dry sand and rock. then we'll go from there.

ok, here's some pics of the nearly identical tank that is currently sitting up at fish gallery. you may have already seen it near the counter at the front. the only difference in the tank pictured below and my tank is that the mine will have an internal overflow box.

First is the stand (crappy pic...sorry)

Then the tank (really dark and hard to see)

my tank will also not have the arm that attaches to the back of the tank to mount lights to. instead, i will just suspend a fixture from the ceiling (most likely) or have an arm coming off the wall or something.

Just got off the phone with Fish Gallery. Tank should be done in a week or so. Also got more details on the overflow box...it will have two 1" drains and one 1" return. Apparently this is the default option for the AGE aquariums, though it is customizable. I was happy with it so decided to keep it that way.

Still undecided on most of the equipment at the moment but thinking of maybe doing LEDs. We will see.

probably a fixture. i don't have time to experiment with diy stuff and wiring. i'll see what kind of deals i can score before i really proceed with this one.
