My new white yellow tang (1 Viewer)

Can anyone tell me if he is rare or not? I know there were some hype about white yellow tangs and aberrant scopas a few years ago but I’m not sure if they are still rare. Non the less I picked this guy up two days ago.

I asked some people on a Facebook forum about him and got mixed reviews.

They're extremely common and typically worth less than blue cromies due to their lack of color.

They also die within a week so I'll reimburse you for the money you spent on it if you sell it to me. I'm basically doing you a favor

But seriously, Yes they are. Yours isn't completely white, but I saw one pop up on reddit the other day. His was completely white, but yours is still not common

I also think it is worthless but will give you $10 more than Cody. Have actually seen lots of different morphs of yellow tangs
some very beautiful some not. some very expensive but mostly sitting on the shelf. they are nice for conversation. Good luck with your find.

Here's the one that a guy posted on reddit the other day. Never seen one like it before. Completely white top to bottom. The dude worked at the LFS that got it in as a yellow tang and bought it before any customer could get to it. I don't blame him.

Great find man! The LFSs by me have a rule of no cherry picking by employees. Has to sit on the shelf for 2 weeks and then they can buy it. I like that rule.

Thanks guys. I got a good deal on him but I might have to rehome to a different system because when I added him to my tank my two inch sohal and 8 inch blue hippo went bananas on him. So now he is temporarily in a 40 cube until I can figure out what to do with him
