The only real difference I have seen in the 300's I've kept and the smaller tanks is height. If you can do something no taller than 24" and no wider than 36" with a eurobrace (or more depending on accessibility) it's not really a problem, the length has never really bothered me.

OOOOH! Can we start a new thread on it?

HERE WE GO!

Sorry maybe that was an incomplete thought.

It's not 8ft thats the problem, for me anyway there is such a thing as "too big" in sheer size.

I wouldn't build anything larger than a 200ish tank again. Just too hard to upkeep and stay sane longterm. ESPECIALLY if you lose touch with it and let it go, it's really rough to recover from.

Its been awhile since I updated this thread but I have amassed a number of changes worth noting.

Replaced the MH lighting with 10 T5's

Upgraded my display fuge to a 100G display tank :). I will be skinning the stand to match the rest of the setup

The clamp on lights are temporary. I'm going to get a T5 fixture for this tank too.

Rock will be added later this week, but I'm keeping it to a minimum in this tank

Now I'm going to go pour a drink for all of the aches I have now.

So John how long before the shark hatches out or should I say you hatch it out??

Also if the clamp on lights are temp.?? are you going to have a use for them afterwards? Just wondering if you plan on selling them or something.

it's funny, you switched from halides to t5 (like most people) and i switched from t5 to halides. i guess i'm backwards like that.

If it doesn't hatch out on its own I will be helping it later this week. It still has a bit of yolk left so I'm leaving it alone until that is just about gone. It is very healthy and definitely a banded cat.

The clamp on lights are 10k and 14k. I will be posting them for sale this week. I also have some 250w fixtures as well. Ideally I'm looking for a 6 bulb T5 fixture. Either TEK or ATI. I thought about doing a retro with a canopy to match the other tank but the new one is so tall that a canopy would just make it tower over the room.
