This thread will give you the info you need: How and where to collect peppermint shrimp

On top of that info, check before you go for tides and wind. If its pretty windy, the water will be too choppy and the peps won't be out. Plus with how slippery the rocks can be, waves at night can get a little dangerous on the rock jetties.

You know we are in.. I am planning on taking two days off for vacation on the 15th & 16th to do some day time collecting and night time just hope the water will be a tiny bit warm but I doubt it.

Water doesn't have to be terribly warm for peps to be there. I've collected in pretty cool water before, but at the end of the season like in November. Not collected in spring before.

Oh that is cold..... LOL I hope it will be a little higher then that in a week after next. But I have a funny feeling it want be much higher since the temps are warming up a lot like they did a couple years back when I first went Peppermint collecting with Mike and several other people.

Peps will start showing up when you begin to see the flower anemones showing up around the end of May to early June.Until then they very hit or miss.
Its also much safer to wade to the rocks from the beach instead of trying to walk on the rocks.

Went last weekend and got about 75 peps and 2 mantis shrimp. Water was kinda chilly.
Thought about going this weekend but weather is going to be crappy for collecting.

We need to plan a Marsh day at the beach again this year to do some collecting. My kids have been asking about it, even my 19 yr old daughter!

I went last night, decent collecting. Got 50 after a couple hours work. Not great but given how choppy the water was I was happy.
