I'm thinking its cyano !! Some of my rocks are partially covered!! [emoji35] what is the best way to remove or get rid of this red algae??
Turn off lights for a few days and increase flow?
Are there any inverts or anything that can eat away this red stuff?

Turn off your blue lights and take a picture with just whites. It helps with the quality of picture

I use a syringe to squirt it off the rocks. If you are running biomedia (bioblocks, balls, media that increases/houses bacteria, in general), pull it out of there if you can. That helped mine clear up pretty quickly.

Sorry I didn't see this post! I'm not running anything just chemipure. Which I have pulled back! Now I just threw in a dose of ChemiClean last night and already see a difference.

I have also tried siphoning the carpet of velvety red cyano off .

On a side not my purple style is whitening up . What causes this ? Too much light? Worm?

Alkalinity, typically. My purple stylo did the same recently. Kept is polyps, thank God. My alk was swinging too much.

I also see this string hanging from it almost like slime on a few of my sticks . Looks like a streamer on a pole/flag. Not sure what this is

Cyano, to if it's about the same color bro. If it is clearer (greenish), could be dinos. Either way, sounds like new tank syndrome. Like less than a year old. How old is this tank? Mine has been up since April-ish, and I still get these issues you are referring too. Just gotta stay on it, as you are.

Started about the same time as you early April. Can't wait till my tanks more stable . Are there any preventive that you have come across?
The slime is like white , and some cyano streams too .

I just squirt and siphon what I can, man. It's very common and Chemipure should help. I, personally, don't use any chemicals in my tank and rely mostly on true biological filtration (live rock, macro, CUC, water changes, stuff like that). I avoid the smoke and mirrors because it's all about tank maturity. Your doing a great job and just keep after it! Your reef will thank you by being awesome soon enough.

10-15% water changes, siphoning, new filters on you RODI, the basics...

Oh, I forgot! I just started running carbon/GFO. It has helped tremendously in my struggle. I really see no other way to keep the PO3 in check other than absorbing it with GFO. I use the carbon in line so that the GFO only had to contend with the PO3. It's a tried and true method, but it can get pricey. 1 tbsp of GFO per 10g of your reef. Test phosphate often. When ruining GFO, pump should cause a boiling effect in the reactor. I'll post a video of this here soon. People often have their flow too high on them. Just a slight boil at the surface is all you need to tumble the media.

Your cyano/bacteria problem will subside. Most of the time, time and water changes is all you need, but it will subside if you stay after it. HOWEVER, it will never fully eradicate. Cyano and bacteria blooms in general are pretty common in our reefs. It just won't be as bad as it is at the moment (more spotty in the future).

I am a professional cyano grower. Semi pro in aiptasia farming, too. ;)
