Here are a few pictures of my BC29. This tank got me started in the hobby in December. When I upgraded to a 58 then to a 65 it went dry and into the garage and I tried to sell it. When I would look at it day after day whenever I went into the garage I had pangs of remorse and decided to keep it. Currently it houses a huge finger leather that I love as the center piece along with some Zoa's, Green Button Polyps, Green Paly colony, Frogspawn, Acan, and some mushrooms. There are two damsels, 3 peppermints (had an aiptasia problem but no more) and 2 cleaner shrimp.

It is quite large, and growing every day. I think I may take it to the frag demo on the 10th, not sure just yet, I may do it at home.

expanding to picotopia

So I am excited to say that I plan to bring a picotope to work. I plan on picking one up from another marshian and starting the cycle as early as tomorrow. We shall see how it goes, I plan on starting VERY modestly to see how it goes for the first month or two and maybe think of pico-type upgrades.

The BC29 is doing well, I removed some LR and put it in the sump under my 65G, I thinned out the green paly's too and threw the excess into my sump in case someone wants some. .

I also put my spoils from the frag demo last month in the BC. will add photos soon!

I thought about doing this until I found out that the air conditioning is off during the weekends. Does the A/C stay on where you work?

update

ok, got the pico started on wednesday and all my coworkers just stare at it all day! lol... the funny part is that it's only got sand and 2 tiny pieces of dead rock in it! They were sad when I said it would take at least a week till I add anything! I will try to get the pics out of my phone and uploaded another day.

On a side note look at what I sucked out of the biocube today:

So what do I do with this beast? he's 3-4 inches long when stretched out I know some say they are good other bad, what do you all think should be his fate? he could go to work with me or could go the way of the hanky.

Leave it be...in either tank. They're harmless and can only benefit your tank.

It freaked me out because I was reading about some bristle worms that just cause trouble eating EVERYTHING when they get big. I think I'll take him to work, so my coworkers have something to stare at... those poor souls.

I'd say 99.9% of the bristles we find in our aquariums are perfectly safe and beneficial scavengers. Definitely take it to work. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.

I'm actually starting to like bristle worms since I removed all the hermits from my tank. Now that I'm feeding rod's food you can them come out and grab every uneaten piece.

I lured him out when I fed the tank some zooplankton, he likes it... I do like that he's got some color at least. "It appears as though your days have been prolonged worm", "into your holding cell till a suitable habitat is prepared for you!" muahaha. It's always nice finding new creatures in this hobby... when they're benign.

PICOTOPIA

I thought I should include my pico from work on this thread as well. It's a JBJ picotope with an AC50 modded hang-on filter/fuge and for a light I have an odysea 12" PC 50/50 which I hope to upgrade one day.
Things I have in there are all my, "undesirables":
xenia
gsp
palys
some random zoas

galveston rock blenny
black damsel
coral banded shrimp
peppermint shrimp
decorator crab
banded starfish
hermit crabs

It's very distracting at work, but I love it.

"I'm promoting clean waterways through education about the reef!"
Yes I have been recruiting the help of our coworkers to feed and take care of the tank in case I take leave.

I am also thinking of modding it to have a surface skimmer since the intake is under the surface I have some surface film that doesn't go away. Also an auto top-off and a new light and fuge light would be stellar, it all costs $$$ though.

Picos are alot of fun if you have a larger tank already I would recommend it. Not so much for a beginner but only because it's easier to use rocks, water, frags from an existing stable aquarium which ensures the stability of the pico and it requires more attention to water quality due to the size, even just half an inch of evaporation in a day makes a big change which is why I only have the hardiest of creatures and corals in there.

I may even start another one to keep somewhere in the house :)

I try to keep the xenia and gsp away from things so I dont end up with a gsp dominated pico though, but even then I think it would be cool looking
