Now all we have to do is organize a ride for those with bikes lol

I was going to ride my bike to reef currents yesterday. Glad I did not. My saddlebags are not even close to big enough to have brought home the 13 pieces I bought and the 2 Wyoming Whites I won from Dennis!

We had a great time, learned a lot and spent a few dollars. We also had a chance to talk to some super nice people. The BOD did a great job. The only downside to the entire event.........., NOT WINNING one of the tanks!

We are looking forward to next year.

While I had a total blast. I do understand that this is the shows first year so I know it will grow into something great, I had a bit of trouble whole trying to listen to the guest speakers and people constantly leaving the hall, and the kids running around was a bit distracting. Also maybe to run the raffle smoother next time it might be a good idea to have all prizes upfront at the stage and as you go up one person verifies your number and another hands you the prize rather than running around from front to back and causing a traffic jam. Wasn't a good feeling to be standing in line waiting to claim a prize and them announcing that Bob had already began speaking. Like I said not bashing I know things will improve. It was a great event and such a great turn out. Excited to see a show in Houston. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback reefboi16. We were just discussing making a thread to get everyone's feedback. I think the show went great and I had a great time. With that said, I know there's always room for improvement and the raffle is a great start. It was a little rough and bumpy for sure lol.

We can use this thread for all the praise and everyone sharing fun experience. We will make another thread to start listing things you all think could be done better or differently next year. That way we can keep it organized and easy to document. We have a whole year before the next show so I don't want to loose the feedback in between 100 other posts.

While the BOD (and others) did a ton of work to make Reef Currents a reality, I personally want to thank EVERYONE that attended the show. Without you all there the show would not have been a success. It takes attendees showing up and buying coral to make it successful. The vendors were very happy so many people showed up and bought things.

Thank you thank you thank you. I can't say it enough. Thank you to everyone that came.

Is it next year yet? :D

To answer one of the earlier questions regarding attendance. We had an AWESOME 1st year turn out, which was part of why things didn't go the way we saw them going in our mind, but that is a good problem to have :loveit:

We had a total of 282 people come out for this event far exceeding our planned 200 ... Thank You to everyone that came out to ensure we do this again.

As Mark stated we will have a feedback thread setup and we want to know all feedback so it can be considered for planning next years event.

I want to add my thanks to the BOD for a great job planning this event, and to the other volunteers who helped make it such a success.

Also, my fish should be very fat and happy with the Ocean Nutrition food I won. :fatnana::D

Did anyone see Mark running around like a wildman? His effective marketing didn't stop when the show took off that man was on the bullhorn like he was trying to control a riot! .... sorry thought that needed to be mentioned. Now on to the meat. I want to thank the entire BOD for organizing and promoting this event. I purchased some sweet acro and a few other frags also happy to finally have my Marsh tshirt!! But the best part is my wife is finally a reef geek! She had so much fun and was blown away at the different "pretty" corals. She even said "we are so going to macna" lol. I will definitely be back every year. Kudos to you all. You did an amazing job.

Thanks everyone, also want to give a shout out to the volunteers who helped make this a success. We got positive feedback from the vendors and speakers as well which will help a lot with bringing in even more vendors next year and helping grow the event.

Did everyone enjoy the speakers and talks? We'll get a topic thread started earlier next year and poll for preferred subjects but I enjoyed Copps SPS talk, nice guy and it was cool to see and talk to him about his system, my dream for the next house (destined to be built around the tank!) Didn't get a chance to see the other talks, but the buzz seemed positive.

Great job marsh!
great job volunteers!
while I was too busy working to listen to the speeches, I did talk to the speakers on the side, great talking to them.
if none of the vendors come back, the one I know for sure that will be back is High def corals, OMG, those guys sold solo much corals at the $10 dollar section, they restocked at least 3 times.
I'm still tired from the event, I went to work Friday for 7am, left at 4pm, went to the store directly to start loading up, went to setup and got home at 12:30, fell asleep at 1:30am and woke up at 3:30ish, could not go back to sleep and back at the hall for 7am, let's just say I will be calling out sick.

oh and I scored some nice shrooms and montipora's I wanted.
for those that made out like bandits at the end, I would love to see what you got.

we need a picture thread of all the corals purchased, show off your purchase.

once again, thanks marsh!

LOL! I thought someone was going to take the bull horn from me at some point and not let me have it back! I was having way to much fun with it. Hahaha.
