how does one know if their water has chloramines. I just changed the filter of my rodi recently when the tds made it to 20. This seemed a bit quick considering i've used perhaps 700 gallons or so. I've looked at the city water report for chloramines and it does show some, but is this what people are saying is "chloramine" in the water?

Thanks.

Yes, your MUD uses chloramine to treat your water in conjunction with chlorine since both are present in the water. Most of Houston has now made the switch, even out to the burbs (I know Richmond and Katy both are using it for sure). NHCRWA covers a ton of area in Houston and has switched to chloramines, and many others have followed suit. Most of the time, you can dig up a "letter of conversion" from your MUD.

Adding a stage to deal with your tap water than now contains chloramines is not expensive or complicated. Easy, quick, and inexpensive.

I used had a Kent RO/DI and switched to BFS RO/DI with Chloramines and I have to say that my corals just after a few days looking even better. About waste water, if you hook up a longer and bigger tubing to your waste line you can water your landscapes with it. or your foundation! Just look back at what kind of Summer we had, if you don't water your foundation you wasting your investment (house).

being a first time home owner. i think if i had to do it over again, i would've probably routed a special RODI drain from my fish room to the front lawn. That would've been so smart. doh! live and learn i guess.
