I know I saw this a while back but thought I would share what I have found recently. This was a little more organized before I ran into issues with neptune products. After that I was disgusted and didn't want to put it back. Then the return pump locked up and had to do a swap so that didn't help either.
Since my tank, sump, and everything is in the garage my "cable management" tends to collect other things...and by things I mean creatures! We park the buggy in the garage and in the warm whether we would take evening drives to check on the bees and the rest of the property. What I didn't realize was the number of grasshoppers we were bringing home. Well grasshoppers by themselves are no big deal. Occasionally I find one in the sump...no they don't survive that ordeal. But the biggest issue is that the spiders have found that they really like hiding around all those wires and humid sump...and I keep bringing them free meals each evening! I found a bunch of dead grasshopper bodies next to my rock tub and didn't know why until I found the black widow nest above it! Worse I found several egg pods!!! So I spent some time playing hulk on some widows and their babies and clearing out the junk that collected around the rock tub and other areas. Gave new meaning to spring cleaning...in the fall! So I would agree that cable management while tedious can be rather important...except I still haven't taken that advice!
