Probably a blue one again to match my old C5. Maybe orange. Really don't want a vette, seems like everyone has one now. I was thinking more of a Viper, but I don't think that will fit in the budget.

The vett is about $60K new; I'm sure you can find a very nice used viper for that price.

Ok, it's official. I'm getting the 2013 Corvette C7 as soon as it comes out in April (2012). I'm glad I did some research, almost bought the 2011 model.

Bad News:
Per my conversation with the sales guy from Munday Chevrolet, the C7 does not come out till April of 2013 and it will be a 2014 model. This information is based on what the GM rep. told the dealership last week.

Good New:
I can save more money. :)
I don't care when it comes out, I'm going to wait and get this car.

of course. they have to wait and see what dodge does with the viper. how convenient, the new generation viper comes out in spring 2012, and then corvette bring out a new corvette 1 year later. the same thing happened with the c6 coming out a year after vipers gen 3

And that's surprising in the auto industry? Last I checked, the Corvette still outsells the Viper, still has more race wins and championships than the Viper, and still outperforms its respective Mopar counterpart in every trim of every price bracket of every generation.

April??? That's a 2013 1/2, more than a 2014. I thought the new year typically would come out in September or October, maybe as early as July, but April the previous year?

I guess I just haven't been buying new cars, and I'm now behind times...

Technically anything after Jan 1 can be called the next year model. I remember Ford introduced the aero 1997 trucks during January 1996 and there was a big to do about it.

yeah, how many versions of the corvette is there and how to the lowest end versions compete with the viper. it takes corvettes zr1 to compete with the latest NA viper. how many Zr1's have been sold compared to vipers and you'll have a better comparison. that's like saying that more mustangs have been sold than corvettes so it's a better car. it's cheaper and they have a base model that sells a lot more than the premium model. Viper only has a preimuim model and a slightly better track package that I'm not even considering.

as far as outperforming... corvette just recently broke the viper's nurburgring record and the corvette driver was very familiar with the track as opposed ot the viper driver and he just barely beat it. comparing the zr1 to the acr would put the acr ahead in every category besides top speed, so put the regular viper against the next model corvette down the line, the z06 and the viper wins everything

You're a Viper owner and it's ok for you to be defensive about the Viper.

I'm a track whore at TWS and both MSRs, and I've seen how Vipers do against Corvettes, from base models to Z06s and ZR1s and ACRs and Comp Coupes. I hate to say it, but the Corvette is faster in the real world.

Btw, when was the last time Viper GTS-R won an ALMS race? Oh wait, didn't they withdraw 5 years ago because they were tired of losing to the C6R?

at TWS and MSR, it comes down to the driver in the cars. the viper is harder to drive and control due to mo driver aids.

i know nothing about ALMS races and those aren't even "stock" cars anyway

Anyway... It's 99% driver at any track. There's a girl in a Hyundai Tiburon that outruns a handful of the Vettes and Vipers (and 911s and Ferraris, etc.) around TWS.

Viper vs. Vette is almost as futile as Camaro vs. Mustang. I concede that the Viper and all its iterations are bad to the bone. I just drive Chevy. Heh. :D

i prefer chevy as well but they don't make the viper and i've wanted one since i first saw the coupe at a car show. i'm not crazy about the viper tax but at least i can do most of the work myself
