Just something to keep an eye on, most likely just a HEAVY rainmaker, but still a good time to check your supplies.

Was just headed over to see if anyone posted on this yet.

Looks like a lot of rain, hopefully no power outages though!
Going to go get some gas for the generator just in case though. My power goes out if you sneeze too hard.

45+ MPH can cause some localized power outages, especially if you have bad tree limbs anywhere

Hello

WOW, that thing is just spinning away. Lets everybody
turn toward the south and take a deep breath and blow it in the other direction :D Hmmm it sounded good. I think the Front will push it more to east before its dumps on us. As Dr. Lloyd would predict.

Mild thunder knocks mine out. No joke. Seems like anytime we have even a mild storm, our block goes out.

Hello,

I was just complaining to my wife the other day on that same note how us folk should start a major campaign against the electric companies over how much money we pay them, and how they have not yet come up with a better system of losing electricity. I live in the Woodlands and most of the people in the heart of that community doesn't see outages because the wires are underground. DUH!!! seems to work for them.

I'd love for them to upgrade equipment in our neighborhood.

But underground lines would make prices higher, I think. Lots more involved to repair them/maintain them, etc.

But to the credit of centerpoint, the power is usually on within a somewhat reasonable amount of time, and almost always when the automated voice line tells me it will be restored.

So accurate, in fact, like to the minute, that it makes me wonder if they hold off restoration till that exacy minute, even if it could be quicker.

Who knows.

I think we're going to take the most of the storm over here towards Beaumont......I already have my battery powered pumps and airstones ready to go if need be. This really sucks seeing how I just started cycling my 55gal yesterday!

I'd hope it has something to do with the power surges with restoring power (and needing to stagger, therefore knowing exactly when your power will flip back on), but maybe they're just trying to assert their power!! :)

My power is underground too. I would think the repair cost impacts of doing this are offset by the fact that it needs repair so less often, but maybe not. It's very rare that we lose power (with the exception of the stupid "extra sensitive" breaker for our bedroom), but now that I've said that it's going to be off for days. Why'd I open my mouth?

If it just started cycling, power loss isnt going to hurt anything. I wouldnt bother with the pumps or anything else unless it's going to be more than 3-4 days.

The pumps aren't for my 55gal...they are for my 20gal....don't want to lose my critters and coral in there. Anyways...good luck to everyone and hopefully this thing will peter out quickly so we can go on with our merry lives.

At least yours takes thunder!!! This is no lie... Twice a year and it seems to always be the same times each year that half of my neighborhood sees blackouts for no reason. NO THUNDER. NO LIGHTENING. NO EVEN A SNEEZE. The excuse is always that the Light Company  ALWAYS  gives is that the main fuse in the generator or what ever you call it pops. Seems after what I have paid in light bills alone, over the past 14 years, the light company could afford to redo the wiring to stop this inconvience. The lights always go out at 6 pm and are not restored until 3-4 am that morning

Raining cats, dogs, chickens, you name it. Little wind. No problems to speak of...yet.

BTW...my name is MelodyePTA...not PTO. There is a huge...huge...difference. I'll tell you about it one day if you're interested.

Thanks for checking on us down here.
