Pardon the ignorance here(Googled already), what is a "heart rock"?

LOL... nothing special... Just a pink rock shaped like a heart... It is in the very center of the tank...

shoulda tagged it as a LE heart rock and sold frags of the rock

Looks great! I'd love a tank that big, I'm sure you enjoy it.

It still wow's me and I can't believe it... I am so excited about it I told my husband he didn't even need to get me a Christmas present... Just let me watch continue to stock my reef. :D You know for a woman to not want any presents.... that says alot. I am still learning lots about a "BIG" tank... but that is the fun in this hobby.. THere is always something to learn. One of the biggest is just exactlly how much water that thing takes to fill up... I was making water for a week..

Congrats on the upgrade buddy! 8) It surely is rewarding to stand back and enjoy something that you worked so hard on. The true pay off will be as time goes on and you get to see your little slice of reef mature. I hope it brings you all the enjoyment you can endure! Lookin' good.

Funny you should mention that... When Scott was over here the other day.. He was talking to my husband and told him.. "he missed it already..." But, he also said he was glad I was the one that got it from him.. he and his family can come over any time... He put a lot of effort into getting this thing up and running at my house.. LOL..

Will you share pics and a list of what you have under the stand? I can only imagine how nice it is setup under there. I haven't seen or heard from Scott in awhile so I assume he is hard at work setting up his tank(s).

Actually that is still a work in progress... I have a 75 gallon sump w/ an asmg3 skimmer, chaeto, mangroves, and calupera. The closed loop is run by a hammerhead pump at 5800 gph and my return is a mag 18. I have two tunze 6080's, for flow, but haven't needed them yet. I will try and get pics of the underside tomorrow.

hey paula, you're going to need a bigger skimmer.

Yep... one step at a time.. Unless of course your are offering to buy me one for Christmas... :D

I love the asm skimmers, they are so easy to regulate and do a great job. I wanthe asmg4, but they are HUGE and when I designed my sump I did design it for it to fit in there... Just need to wait until the funds start coming in... Right now it will have to do w/ the 3. I also thought about just upgrading to the sedra 9000 pump on the g3. Just not sure what would happen. What do you think?

For a 300g tank I would look at getting the Reeflo Orca 250 Pro. I know they are pricey, but you don't have to worry about it fitting in your sump and it will handle up to about 800g without a problem. You could get a skimmer like mine, the Octopus Extreme 300, but you would really be pushing it's limits.....we all overstock our tanks so it's really best to overskim.

The 300 looks more than double better than the 150 that sat there! :D
(please excuse the gramatical problems in the above statement 8) )

Agreed, great come back.

ps: I don't think the sedra 9k alone is gonna handle it long term, maybe a while though.

Thank you!! I like it better than the 150 myself..

Yeah... I know.. I will need to upgrade the skimmer... and just upgrading the pump won't do it.
