Well i just took a look into my tank and my flame back angel is laying on the bottom breathing heavy and all my other fish are breathing heavy too. I went to BAA and got some fresh rodi water to top off my tank a pink tail trigger and added a new power head. I dont know if any of these things could have caused it but i dont need to loose everything now. HELP please!!!

Wow.... that's gotta suck.

Now did you even bother to test the things you just added?
RO water actually RO or did you add too much?
What kind of powerhead and did it electrocute them?
Pink tail went straight in? Did you also happen to pour the water in there too cause everytime I have been there the water quality has been questionable.

The power head is a koralia 2 and i unpluggeed it just in case. I am guesin it was the water i got from minhs because i normaly just use ozarka. I woke up this morning and my midas blenny, hawk fish, and flameback angel are dead and there is no sighn of my 3 gobies clown tang or my jawfish. So far my only sure survivors(for now) are my clown and my new pink tail. It sucks because i got to go to school and theres nothing i can do about it.

What do I do with the live fish? So far it is my clown tang, my misbar false perk clown, and my pinktail trigger.
This is killing me to see them in there amongst the dead ones just waitng for it to happen to them.

i found out the problem. The hose i used to drip the fish had gotten soap on it some how and the soapy end was in the tank. My dad gave me it and it felt slick but i didnt clean it. Now i feel terrible.

ya many years ago I went through the same thing I went from a 30 to a 55 gallon salt, and super cleaned everything ... I ended up cleaning things too much and even after rincing there was still enough soap risidue to kill everything .. I really hate myself when that happens. Good luck

So far all of my corals are ok. My fish I have lost a flame back angel, midas blenny, my hawk fish, and 2 of my 3 gobies are dead (havnt found the other one yet) I also have a yellow headed jawfish that is missing. So far all my survivors are clown tang pink tail trigger and my clown fish.

sad part is i have no idea. Will it make a difference? Aparently enough to kill fish but not enough to kill coral.

I have never heard of soap killing fish, but other people are saying they have seen this as well.

What do you think is in soap that would kill fish in such a low concentrate? How do you know it was soap on the hose? If there was enough soap to kill fish, I would imagine your skimmer should have been an out of control bubble machine as well.

How big is your tank?

I find it hard to believe that a little soap residue caused all that.

my tank is a 65 tall. The thing is ALL i have as far as filtration is a pengium 350 power filter. I went to Jlord's house and he has my fish and I am going to get his 75 and sell the one I have. He also gave me 15 gallons of RODI water for a water change and is letting me borrow his skimmer.
Things like this is why i put in 30$ to be a marsh member!

yeah, i was also doubting the soap residue killing everything idea. i could understand it causing some problems, but not a total wipe out. anyways, i think you should get a reef ready setup and utilize a sump and skimmer.

My bet is either on an ammonia/nitrite spike or a fish fight. A 65g tank is way too small for a Clown Tang and Pink Tail Trigger. To keep those fish you need a minimum 6ft tank. They both will get huge over time. You were also overstocked for that small of a tank and should talk to your parents about getting you a good skimmer before diving any further into the hobby. People always stock their tanks like a freshwater system and then never have the right filtration to support it and wonder why all of their fish are dying. Good luck with the new 75g setup and please take things slowly and don't be afraid to ask questions here on marsh. Sorry for your losses, but it looks to me this all could have been avoided with a skimmer and better education about your inhabitants before purchasing. It really ticks me off when these stores sell tangs and triggers and other large fish to people with small tanks.
