My bet is either on an ammonia/nitrite spike

I am with you. I thought that when I read this yesterday and forgot to post it. When I saw the fish list I suspect what happened was you reached your max. load capacity for that tank the way it is set up and a cycle took over.

midas blenny, hawk fish, and flameback angel, 3 gobies clown tang, jawfish,
clown and my new pink tail - is really a VERY full load for a 65 without a skimmer.

I have a skimmer on it and the tang is 3" and the trigger was 4". I know they will get bigger but I my mother lives in Port A with a 215 reef that they can go in as they get bigger.
I know I was asking for it but did it anyway. As for the fish fight that couldnt have happened because the trigger was afraid of his own shaddow.
I checked my water in the tank and there was no nitrites and no amonia.
The 75 I am getting is going to be drilled and have a skimmer in it.
Thanks for all of your help everyone!

The thing is ALL i have as far as filtration is a pengium 350 power filter. I went to Jlord's house... He also gave me 15 gallons of RODI water for a water change and is letting me borrow his skimmer.

So far all of my corals are ok. My fish I have lost a flame back angel, midas blenny, my hawk fish, and 2 of my 3 gobies are dead (havnt found the other one yet) I also have a yellow headed jawfish that is missing. So far all my survivors are clown tang pink tail trigger and my clown fish.

I’m confused. :?
You are saying that the corals are ok but the fish are dead. The corals are way more sensitive than the fish. I don't think soap killed those fish.

Cause and effect is tough. For example, the soap could have killed the bacteria in the filter, and then given the fish load, an ammonia spike resulted killing the fish.

Also, perhaps the particular type of soap had a chemical/poison (even a small amount) in it that affected the fish more easily than the corals (fish process saltwater to hydrate after all).

Lastly, ime, corals can often live through something (esp. ammonia spikes) that will kill fish (certain types of corals and fish are exceptions of course). Think of types of corals that survive during a live rock curing process. Also, when I worked at a LFS (a long time ago), I remember getting wholesale fish/coral shipments that had been severely delayed, sat out on a hot or cold runway, etc. All the fish would be dead but a lot of the corals would pull through.

In any event, deepsea, good luck recovering. After Ike, it seems to be an unfortunate pastime.

Thanks. It is weird I have been testing for nitrites and ammonia twice a day since this happened and nothing comes up. I do not know for sure what is in the water just that there are suds on the top of the water and all paremeters are fine.
