I use them a lot for food and stuff because they are so convenient. It's worth it to me to pay a few dollars more for dry goods as opposed to driving halfway across town and spending $5 in tolls.
I've also bought several fish there, because they do carry a lot of fish you just don't see that often at other stores. Yes, they usually have a lot of sick looking fish there, but most of the time they have 10 to choose from of a given species, and you can usually find a healthy one if you look close enough. The livestock guarantee is very nice, although I have to say that I have never lost a fish I bought from any other LFS, but I have used Aquarium World's livestock guarantee several times.
On tanks, they are outrageous. They claim that they sell them at cost - that's a lie. They will even show you a price list, claiming it's their cost. What they won't tell you is they get a discount below those prices. When I ordered my tank from Fish Land, Andy said he would sell me any one I wanted for 5% over his cost. He showed me the same price list as Aquarium World, and said to deduct 30% and that was his actual cost (and then add 5%, so he was about 25% cheaper overall).
