Who evacuated and left the tank behind? Anybody riding out the storm? (1 Viewer)

Man it could be a few days or weeks depending on where the storm goes. If Houston took a direct hit from a Cat 3 so many trees would come down and damage the infrastructure that it could cause a 3 week+ power outage for some people.

I think of us may see power outages for at least 2-3 days depending where you live and if it holds the current track. Mostly those that are south of the beltway.

Right now, Port Arthur & Beaumont are probably looking at a 2 week power outage in some areas. Maybe longer.

Ike was the single biggest power outage in Texas history and 75% of the area had power back on within 10 days. Ours (Seabrook) was out for five days.

A few days at most. You just gotta hunker down as they say. I pick a room in my house and locate a window unit there, trying to seal in cool air in that area and power a tv. My tanks I run the wave makers and the return pump at 50%. They will be fine with no lights for a few days, mine were anyway.

You can run the extension cords tomorrow where you need an outlet. Do it before the power goes out.

I think we’re gonna be ok for this one, but having a plan is the smart move.

If there is a mandatory evacuation for us...can they force us to leave.?

I don’t think so. There was a mandatory evacuation for a lot of Harvey people and they didn’t leave. I don’t think they can force you out of your home

No, honestly they have better things to do than try to enforce an order like that. They just want to avoid the fire dept getting overrun with avoidable rescues.

I'm holding out. This is my first hurricane ever (moved to to Texas from Cali in 4/18), so I'm a little nervous.

Generator + 5g of extra fuel (all the containers I could get). I've moved all the general stuff inside out of the way. Even lifted the car in the garage onto jack stands (don't expect flooding, but just in case). No boards for windows. Apparently all the houses were supposed to come with them, but the owner before must have tossed them because they are no where in the house and not in the attic or garage. This is my biggest worry really...

Chiller + spare return pump are ready. I have about 40g of saltwater already made and ready. I have an empty 40g breeder that I moved upstairs and if I need to move the fish/corals to higher ground I can. I may move my coral / invert QT stuff into my DT if needed. Everything has been in there for 58 days, but I typically do the 76 day cycle. I'm sure it's fine, but I'll only do that if I have to. Also have a battery powered airpump.

Got some extra 5g you can have, if power goes out it could take days (been thru that before) and 5 gallon do not last very long

My extended family being obstinate Cajuns is frustrating. Praying for those who are riding it out in lake Charles [emoji1317]

Had to be a big drone like an Inspired to handle that wind right now....Oh how I missed my inspired!
Mavic pro... handles better, less footprint in my unit, more reliable and longer battery life than the inspire. We have an inspire as well but it just sits in its case and rots.

Mavic's are such great drones. I have a Mavic Air and it was my first photography one since my 3DR Solo. Before that it was a DJI F450 w/ Naza 2. I was so impressed with how good the mavic air is.

I have a ton of experience flying drones, but mostly racing ones. I was a professional drone racer for a couple years. Was well sponsored, traveled the world, etc). Now I rarely fly racing ones, and my mavic air gets in the air about once every 3 months.

Got some bad footage of Surfers Isle (wasn’t prepared). Only breaks when there is a huge storm. Basically never! It’s been rumored to be a world class right point break when everything is perfect. Wind direction, Swell direction, etc. None of the locals will ever mention it and if it’s brought up most will say they have no idea about the wave, but they know the wave very well.
