Last weekend I added my first coral. I chose a lobophylia. I also added a few more snails a purple fire fish and a diamond goby. The fire fish immediately went into hiding and I have not seen him. The diamond goby decided to attempt to fly and didn't make it. I will be making my top soon.

Looking good! Sorry to hear about the goby. They are jumpers for sure. Keep an eye on your ammonia and all should be fine. Take things slow and enjoy the hobby. It's very rewarding and can be frustrating also.

Oh yeah and Welcome to MARSH!! :D

Thanks Mark. I'm ready to get my skimmer. I'm pretty set on the BM curve 7.

My ammonia and nitrite have been 0 but my nitrates look to be around 15. I plan on doing mostly lps and I understand they like a little nitrate but I still want to get it down some.

Some consistant water changes should help to bring your nitrates down. Thats the easiest place to start anyways. Folks will go bonkers fighting high Nitrates, just start with the more obvious solutions first so you dont feel the need to dump additives and such. Check your sump for detrius, look for "dead spots" that may be hiding matter in your sand bed, filters on your RODI...the simple stuff we often times over look :)

I saw your wife wanted a Coral Beauty, they are pretty, but be careful with your corals. I have one that has a specific taste for gorg polyps. I had to take my gorg out until I can catch the CB....no easy feat!

There is a get together this weekend. It would be a great opportunity to meet other Marshians and get some advice on your tank :) you should consider coming out!

I think the tank is still too new for issues with detritus. I have been doing about a 10 percent water change every week and it brings it down a little each time. I am concerned about the coral beauty but my wife had to have it and I want to keep her supportive of the hobby. If it becomes an issue I will have to go fishing.

I would love to make the get-together but I will be out of town all weekend. If there is another please let me know. It would be great to meet everyone.

Nope. I'm thinking it jumped and the dog ate it. But the diamond goby jumped and the dog didn't eat it.
