    Sump/refugium

I have a 75 gallon RR tank, currenetly with a 20 long sump. I want to incorporate a larger sump to make into a sump/refugium. I also run a ASM G3 skimmer that needs about 13-14" of space. The 20 is way to small to turn into a sump/refugium. I have considered a 30 long which runs about 36" long...

Sump/Refugium out of a Rubbermaid tote

Any ever do this? I need a space for my G3 skimmer followed by a refugium, then the return area. Has anyone ever put baffles in a rubbermaid tote? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    The never ending baffle question!

I am going to rearrange my refugium to house a skimmer in the first chamber followed by 3 baffles. Should the first baffle be where the water goes under it or over it? I thought going under it would be better, condusive to less noise. That would put the 3rd baffle were water entered the refugium...

Help for drain on CPR Aquafuge

I put a 25" CPR Aquafuge on my tank this week, I need some ideas on protecting the drain tube from snails getting in there and blocking the flow. I have heard some real horror stories on reefcentral of the drains getting blocked by snails and pumping 20 to 30 gallons of water on the floor. I was...

    Unbelievably expensive live rock!!

I went by Neptunes Garden today. They used to have a 55 gallon show tank with some nice corals, fish and live rock. However they broke down the tank, and had the live rock in one of their tide pools. Now are you ready for this, they will make you a deal on this rock for only $25.99 a pound. :o...

    Suggestions, plumbing a HOT overflow.

Well I got my sump, so I'm now ready to plumb up the HOT overflow. I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to do this. Is it better to hard plumb it, i.e. pvc pipe, or use flexible vinyl hose for the drain? I believe I'm going to use hard plumbing for the return so I can install valves, but...

    Best choice for a refugium?

I want to add a refugium to my 55 gal. I would like some opinions on whether to use a HOT overflow, to a below tank refugium, or maybe go with a HOT refugium, like the ones CPR makes. My main concerns with using the HOT overflow is the possibility of flooding, but I would be able to have more...

Which epoxy to use for attaching frags to live rock?

I need to epoxy some frags in my tank to my live rock. These are already on small pieces of rock. What would be a good epoxy to use? Anything from Home Depot, or do I need to get some from one of the vendors? I need it to be reef safe. Thanks, Richard.

    Article in Advanced Aquarist

Has any had a chance to read this yet. I am thinking of doing this but using the turbo calcium. I don't believe we can get Dow flake here in Houston. Also I am not sure on how to dose. I believe you can start of with a small amount of each, and measure parameters to find right amount to dose...

I was browsing around Reefcentral and found some great ideas for setting up an elctronic strip with switches for powerheads, lights, etc. even a cheaper way to use a DJ light timer rather than a wave strip!! Pretty cool stuff...
