Question for those with mixing stations. I finally have my mixing station up and running. I am planning on hooking up the auto water change this weekend. I bought a Jebao DCP 6500 to mix the saltwater tank but it doesn’t look like it’s moving much water. The tanks are 65 gallons. The pump...
This question is for those of you with auto water change systems. I have a detached garage about 50 feet away from where my tank is in the house. I was planning on setting my mixing station in our laundry room which is about 8 feet from the tank but my wife just decided that wasn’t going to...
I finally have my new 180 ready to move into the house. Currently running a Sicce SDC 7.0 return and two IceCap 4K gyres on the side walls of the tank. Want to add two more powerheads on the back wall to create a more random flow to get ready for SPS. Looking for input on the additional PHs...
I have been in the garage for the past hour trying to find the right combination of T5 bulbs in my 8x60w T5 fixture. I bought 4 of each ATI below. I also plan on buying 2 SB Reef Actinic bars for fluorescence.

I’m have recently purchased a new 180 gallon Planet Aquarium and decided to build the stand and canopy myself.
I opted to go with building a metal stand and finished it today. I want to build in recessed cabinets on both side of the stand with one side being for food, test kit, etc. and the...
I am in the process of welding out a metal stand for an upcoming build. I was originally thinking of powder coating the stand but would rather have a rubberized type coating to help with sound dampening.
Does anyone have any experience with flex seal or truck bed lining for this? How is the...
Getting ready to put a dent in my available credit tomorrow ordering the rest of the equipment for my 180 build tomorrow. Still haven’t settled on the lighting yet. But found this and wanted to get some opinions...
Just ordered my first frag tank. Going to use it as a grow out tank for now. Was originally thinking about plumbing into my 72 until I get the 180 up and running. Wife doesn’t want it in the living room so I am going to set it up as a stand alone in my office.
Do I need to cycle this tank?
I...
Bought 5 SPS frags yesterday from a fellow member. These are my first SPS by the way. Dipped and placed on frag rack in tank. I’m only getting polyp extension on two of the acros in the direction of my light and PHs. Should I go ahead and place on rock under my T5 fixture where they get full...
I thought I was happy to finally have coralline growth in my tank. However it being a bowfront the mag float won’t touch it. Is there anything anyone has used on curved surfaces to scrape coralline? I’m thinking about a plastic putty knife but open to suggestions.
So I am starting to see the first little bit of green hair algae in my tank. It’s a 72 bowfront. Would a juvenile yellow tang be a good idea to combat it. I know the 72 is a little small for an adult tang but I am also working on getting a 180 up and running so within 6 months I could transfer...
Has anyone ever lost a long tentacle anemone. I have pulled some rocks looked in the overflow and sump but it’s nowhere to be found. Is there anything that could’ve eaten it? Urchins, snails, fish, fire shrimp? It was decent sized about 8” fully extended and about 3” balled up.
Well I have been looking for a bigger tank and was going to pull the trigger on a new Planet Aquarium 240 but after the sideways looks from the wife and a slow down in business I decided to go a different route. So I bought the 180 sump and stand from @BigRick (thank you by the way). He and I...
