Now that my 110 is sold and gone, and i am taking the 75 offline this week. I thought i would start my new build thread.

this will be a 40 breeder sps dominated like the tittle says.
tank will be barebottom with a 20 long sump and a 20 long refugium.
mostlikely 65-70 gallons of water volume.
DSB bed in the fuge with LR and macro's.
Looking for good filther feeders for this area as well.
the tank is drilled for a calflow overflow system.
which will drain into the sump and the return will be split to the refuge and some reactors. maybe not the reactors. i will raise the fuge above the sump and drill one hole with a bulkhead to drain back to the sump.
the stand is being built right now and is 39x24x48
list of equipment.
mp10
tunze nano stream
diy dual stage calcium reactor
acrylic box for autotopoff
reefkeeper 1, jr coming soon
milwaukee ph monitor
Ai sol white
nextreef reactor
tlf reactor
1/10 hp chiller
sicce syncra 3.5 return pump
bubblemagus nac 6 skimmer

I did make one mistake while doing this build, i got the template from cichlidtx for the holes and i did not check with him to see where he used the template. so i placed it under the black trim on the outside of the tank and it was supposed to go on the inside, as the trim is shorter on the inside and brings the holes closer to the top, not bad if i did not have the glass already cut, for the overflow, so now i have two options.
one order new glass, 2 turn the elbows up and put the box on anyway.
or build a new small box on the inside and use the other one on the outside and drill holes in it to put the plumbing on the bottom of the overflow box. enough talking, here are some pics.

not as much as you think. i'm just excited about the new build. sps all the way, mostly for the colors and the challenge. lps and softies are too easy to care for, though i killed some. some things were just not meant to be kept by me. one day i will go very big, hopefully. I love 180's. but, don't have the room for it. if i give up photography, then i probably could upgrade then. since i would not need the space in the garage. this is going to be a all name brand sps tank. ora, tyree, garf, etc.
I refuse to overpay for anything though.

I don't even want to calculate the cost of this build.
I think i could have bought the new camera i wanted with the cost of this build. and i still have to get plumbing.

I need ya'll help.
i need good macro's for my fuge, ulva will be one and mangroe another, maybe a chamber for chaeto. what else?
what about filter feeders? any good ones?

I have only gone bigger in this hobby, though I did give up others (golf, mostly fishing, car restoration). Photography looks to be an equally expensive one.
I think its hard to be cheato for a fuge. I had a myriad of macros, cheato beat out and took over everything.
Dont want to over pay? I have some stuff, pm me.

I noticed your getting a controller. Why not just buy/make a break out box and get some float switches. I still have a few float switches I can sell you.

They are from autotopoff.com. Comes with bracket

With all these new toys, I guess no d7000 any time soon eh? Lol. I'm gonna get a new lens soon. Can't decide between 24mm and 85mm prime. :?

I would go w/ the tunze osmolator for top-off.
$$$$$$$$$ running out, but heard good things about them.
let me see how it works out with the auto top off stuff first.

For your overflow plumbing "problem", just cut down the 90 degree fittings to compensate for the difference in the trim height. That way you can use everything as planned.

hey thomas, that's eaxctly what we are going to try and do first, should have wrote that. but if all fails, then plan be, and i know it will work because i do not plan on having a strong return, maybe 2-300gph at best, the rest is going to the fuge and possibly the reactor. we'll see how that goes. i really wanted one pump for everything, but hat would have meant a larger pump. i am going to take my sweet time with this. a want a clean build.

i think i am going to leave the bottom bare and just paint underneath it and put some type of cover on the back. this way i can sell it in the future with ease. no one wants my 75 with a blue background. but i loved it. maybe i'll go black.

I plan to place clams an sps on the bottom as well as on the rocks.

the fun part is yet to come, i have not gotten the stand yet, most likely this weekend, then drain my wallet for plumbing parts, and some electrical. were will the money come from? hmmm, may have to start selling some rocks. everything else is gone.

Hey Felix,

I would recommend against a dsb. If you're running biopellets (supplementing with mb7 and a fuge. I think you shouldn't have too much problems with nutrients as long as you bioload is not too much.

I'll go find the ato parts for the controller when..... When I get off work at 6am.

I would recommend finding a nice flat rock to put the clams on. Otherwise Depending on the clam, it will stick itself to the glass. It'll be a pain to move it.

instead of biopellets? Your call, gfo gets pretty expensive after a while.

it would be good to get a big 5 gallon container and split it between a few people.
