I'm just throwing ideas at the wall and seeing if anything sticks. I drew this up because of all the tallying and seniority talk. I don't keep track, and I dont plan to.

As of right now the PIF is a bit messy. Cluttered if you will. I believe his new plans will help alleviate some the mess, while keeping it simple in just a few threads. Maybe I'm thinkig too far down the line but imagine 15 PIF threads going on.

What we need is a subforum and a thread for each diff species of coral. Main thread can then link to those.

I know I didn't have much to give before accepting these 3 PIF's.

If I have to pay for it with frags, I just assume pay with cash.

I have been helped out so much getting started, I'm really just looking for an opportunity to be able to help out someone else. That is what I wanted out of the Pay It Forward program.
I've been given salt, test kits, a frag, light bulbs, pumps, use of drill bits and drills. Just last week I used a dremel (that I need to return, by the way).
PIF, in addition to be able to help someone else fill their tank with coral, it also helps from taking coral from the sea. It provides a chance to restock in case of a crash. There are so many benefits.
I feel if we are paying for coral with coral, it is not PIF, It's trade/swap/something different than PIF.


Lastly,
I read on Facebook the other day about a friend from Alabama stopping to get gas. She went inside to pay after pumping (I know, small community), and the fuel was already paid for. Anonymous donor. She in turn performed a different deed (Anonymously) for an elderly person down the street from her. It's all about giving.

I'm down for playing whatever game we decide, by the rules we decide. There are two games, and I don't think there is an easy way to combine them into one.

If everyone agrees that running this as it is now I'd fine and going on the honor system then I have no problem.

One idea that popped up to make things a little easier, why don't we syncronize PIF releases. Everyone offers what they have available at the first of the month or whatever. That way we don't have to lurk here so often lol.

We do need to come up with a way for pif to become more "random?" or structured. Because like you eluded to the same people might be the ones getting all the pif's while leaving others out. This first go around I was fortunate enough to just give a peice to everyone that wanted one, but in the future I just wont be able to do this.

Maybe use a system like a waivers order, for those familiar with fantasy football. Everyone gets a number 1-whatever, thats your picking order, if you use your pick you go to the back of the order. Say your pick 10 and picks 1-9 dont want that coral you become pick 1 and then go back to the end of the line, etc.

I agree. Just tell people to try to limit themselves to X number depending on how many are released and how many participate. It would be up to the giver then. If someone already laid claim to 3 or 4 but several were still available the giver could still allow that person to get some of theirs too since everyone else already had a fair chance.

it's gonna have to be an honor system for sure...but ultimately it's up to the person sponsoring the coral...

ie: if Soymilk sees my name on EVERY list to recieve coral and Tmgrash has only asked for one...give it to Travis...

that's what i'd do...however, if you ask the guys i work with i can be an ********* sometimes...
