Calcium Reactor Media- What the heck happened? (1 Viewer)

What were you using and what are you using now. What have you tried? What was the difference? How did your corals respond?

Is it dissolving? Did you increase the drip rate? Did you have to increase your gas? pH more depressed now?

Did TLF loose their collecting spot or what? Was it COVID?

Will we ever have quality media again?!?

Never tried it. Interested to hear feedback on other media's. I know TLF dissolved quickly and didn't need a very low pH to dissolve the media vs something like the Triton Media.

Go read the first couple of reviews on ARM at BRS's website. Don't know what to believe these days.

I’m sure it needs a lower ph but my tank ph hits 8.46+ so that doesn’t bother me. This stuff lasts forever.

Great to hear there are alternatives! It looks like the few bad reviews were just on the coarse, but the extra coarse seems to have good reviews.

Yeah, I think covid got Reborn media somehow... it (like Tropic Marin salt) has been hard to come by!

Was using original reborn. Now using 2nd generation reborn(mixed size). Bought 3rd gen reborn looks like coral sand. It mixed with some shells and rubbers. Sadly I have 40 lbs May take some work to pick those unpurities out. I think BRS have pretty good return policy. Maybe I should just return it.

So pre plandemic reborn was different than it currently is? Did the supply dry up or is another company selling the bigger bones overseas somewhere?

It could be a supply issue or more likely a Cites or host country issue. Same reason we can't get Pukani live rock anymore. Either host countries not allowing export or Cites is preventing.

I hear that TLF Changed suppliers, and I’m sure it was COVID related.

Using ARM and have to keep my PH at 6.0 just to get a strong enough effluent to make a difference. Finally have it dialed in so not touching it and will monitor. I found that a small piece of painters tape on the outside where the media was located with a date is a great way to see how slow/fast it is being used.

Same in 3 months I thinks its gone down. 1/2"... looking to maybe mix in a little of something else. Is the seachem worth a try?
