What were you using and what are you using now. What have you tried? What was the difference? How did your corals respond?

Is it dissolving? Did you increase the drip rate? Did you have to increase your gas? pH more depressed now?

Did TLF loose their collecting spot or what? Was it COVID?

Will we ever have quality media again?!?
Just cleaned out my reactor yesterday to refill it. Luckily, @gregg had a bag of reborn that he bought to use as rubble and I had about half a bag leftover from a year ago when I filled it. I’ve got about another year before I need to find more so I’m keeping my eyes open.

I saw that in the garage and was wondering.... I need to find some older reborn.

BTW your tanks colors are awesome!!

thank you. I think they can get better.

so it’s common to run fla crushed coral in a second chamber. I’ve found that crushed coral on my second chamber depletes at about 1” in 2 months.

ive heard of a few shops running crushed coral as the only media in BOTH chambers.

any thoughts on running crushed solely?

I’ve known multiple people that use their dead corals. I have some saved up that I will put in next year.

is it that easy or Is there an advised process? E.g. bleaching and rinsing several times?
From what I’ve seen, maybe a light rinse then throw it in. There might be some gunk at first, but like a bar of soap, as the exterior dissolves away, it reveals a fresh, clean surface.

There are a few things on eBay that would be interesting to try. Lot of it is prohibitively expensive but worth mentioning.

This isn’t the one I was thinking of but I like this guys shop, small business.

Man he’s got some cheap dry rock!
Probably never be able to get all the phosphates out of it either... always something behind the scenes... was probably rock from FOWLR tank where phosphates build up and they leach for years in ur reef tank.

Eh, he’s based in Florida. Pretty good CUC supplier

All his stuff is the real deal. He’s got a crazy aquaculture set up down there.

What’s wrong with this reborn?

* ReBorn is back, but it's a new blend. It's slightly different then the older product. The size of the shells and coral pieces is slightly smaller then the older version as to comply with ever changing CITES laws for importation of coral skeletons.
