* ReBorn is back, but it's a new blend. It's slightly different then the older product. The size of the shells and coral pieces is slightly smaller then the older version as to comply with ever changing CITES laws for importation of coral skeletons.

I’ve been talking to several people and from the feedback I’m getting from pros is that the new smaller media is basically the same. No difference in dissolve/melt. Melts at the same pH. No adverse affects with their tanks.

You be surprised if you Google “Coral Bones” at how close it looks to reborn. That’s what I’m gonna start using. Number 15 is a good size. Look for this bag if you can find it. A friend of mine has been using it since reborn is smaller and he likes it a lot. Says it’s the same as the old reborn. I’ll try to find their source. His LFS gets it in obviously overseas, but he doesn’t know where.

I have not. After several google search’s I'm convinced it comes Vietnam and they put it in this bag. This is not the brand, but a bag their using from a pig food maybe. Just my guess.
Bypassing customs.

Seems like an opportunity for someone with a warehouse 🙄
It definitely is. $600 a ton. $380 a ton if you buy 20. 1 ton = 2,000 lbs.

Do the math on the 8.8lb bag of TLF reborn media. 8.8lb x 227 bags = 1997lbs @ say $35 a pop. 227 x $35 each = $7945

That’s not counting shipping, but definitely money to be made.

I got 1200 sq ft
If I had the time and resources I’d jump on this. Let’s consider the low end of the deal for a second. Excuse my math:

First off this guy has an excellent source. Basically looks like the old reborn or maybe better. You have to commit to 1 ton or 2,000 lbs which is $600. If you get 20 tons or 40,000 lbs it’s $380 a ton. Reborn goes for $35-40 a bag.

Let’s say 2,000 lbs / 220 = about 9 lbs.
220 (9lb bags) x $35 = $7,770 a ton at the high price.

Then you gotta ship it across seas on a tanker to a port which is 10 minutes from me. Then have it picked up and delivered to your destination. Let’s say shipping was $2,000. 7,770 - $2,000 = $5,700 profit.

That’s still excluding sorting, bagging, and shipping across US to reefers. Still a lot of profit though if you did it large scale.

Basically if I was Julian Sprung @ TLF, Ryan @ BRS, Saltwater Aquarium, etc...We’d all have endless CaRx media in about 1 month. :)

Probably not that simple, but a friend of mine was doing it right here in Houston in at a 1500sf home. If he did it...anybody could do it especially if you had resources like these companies mentioned above. 17A9D5A3-1FA3-41E5-96F8-3D70774BE2FE.jpeg 50203B07-9E8E-4087-94C2-AF09695A5942.jpeg EA74C5F0-B039-4271-A2AB-9FC8628C0674.jpeg D98FC402-F1B5-4141-A902-CA90A49E556E.jpeg

I have 4-5k of available warehouse space at work. What I don't know the cost of is bagging & shipping. I'll assume we can get plastic bags & a bag sealer for a $1000 or less. We would need to calc a per bag cost & what shipping would be, I assume $10-$15. I'm sure we could find a dump trailer to rent to get the "coral bones". I could see doing several tons, but not 20. Thats a big pile!

What y’all need is a guy that’s currently unemployed to oversee this

Plus, you have to figure out a way to go to market. I happen to know a guy.
