Hello everyone, I am just starting this hobby and have purchased a lot of items over the past few weeks. This will be the beginning of my build journal, and I would appreciate any help and constructive criticism! Below is what I have purchased so far!

-90 Gallon Marineland Tank (had it torn down to the panes and completely resealed)
-Stand
-Curve 7 Skimmer
-Eshopps R200 Sump
-Mag 9.5 Pump
-2x RW-8 Powerheads
-Photon 32 w/ 4' Setup (120 Optics outside and 90 inner)
-75lbs Live Rock
-Couple bags of Natures Ocean Sand and 2x20lb bags of Caribsea Live Sand
-Eheim 200w Heater
-Aquarium Thermometer
-Refractometer
-Tub of Tropic Marin Pro Reef Salt
-CaribSea Purple Up
-Dr. Tim's One & Only for Reef Aquariums
-Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro Multi Test Kit, Algae Multi Test Kit, and PH Test Kit
-American DJ Power Rack
-Used 4 Stage RO/DI System w/ 2x 50 Gallon Barrels (No idea how to set it u - purchased all new filters/membrane etc as well as a 150GPD Upgrade kit)

I actually need help plumbing the tank. I figured I want to do a herbie overflow, it had a durso overflow in the tank before I purchased it. I was looking at the blue schedule 40 PVC Pipe from BulkReefSupply and Schedule 80 fittings etc. Any one able to help with a list of what else I would need for plumbing? Thanks!

Hi Chris! I think a 90/G is a fantastic tank to start out with. It's a great size. The equipment all looks pretty good. The only thing that you will not need is the purple up. It's snake oil. Other than that, welcome aboard! I and many other can help you get the tank plumbed up and running well. Please post pictures of the tank so we can do an assessment of the best route to go. What size are the drains and returns and how many? One quick thought. Scheduled 80 fittings can be hard to come by at times. I'd suggest you make a very accurate and complete list as to exactly what you need and it needs to be well thought out. Or simple go with the traditional white scheduled 40 and save yourself headaches down the road. Other than that, GAME ON!!!

looking good. May I ask how much the resale is costing you and who exactly is doing the job? Do you know what silicone is being used? Is this a full panel reseal or just inside seam work?

Thanks!

There are two holes in the overflow compartment, the old plumbing I believe is 1" Schedule 40 and was setup to be a Durso. I was figuring, just by what I have read, that the two holes currently in place can be used as the main over flow hole and the emergency overflow that is 6" taller than the main. Both would run vertically into the sump into the two filter socks.

Main Drain Standpipe: Strainer ---> PVC Pipe --> Bulkhead -->PVC Pipe -->Gate Valve -- PVC Pipe to Filter Sock
Emergency Drain Standpipe: PVC Pipe 6" longer than main drain -->bulkhead-->PVC Pipe -->Ball Valve --> PVC Pipe to filter sock

$100 roughly for a full panel reseal and having the back painted black at the same time. I found the guy off of craigslist and he lives off of 2920 in Spring.

yes, one can be main drain and the other the ER. What size are the return holes. Pics would be helpful here.

That's not bad. A full panel reseal is basically building the aquarium completely over again. It's a full blown job. I would highly recommend you stop him if he is using anything other than RTV 108 aka 100 series or GE SCS 1200. Actually, I would probably stop him anyway because I can almost assure you that there isn't some Joe blow on Craigslist who's only charging $100 for a full panel reseal that really knows what he's doing. People on Craigslist are usually ignorant as to... how to do a proper and safe aquarium reseal. Don't want you to end up with water in your livingroom. Or have to start completely over 1 year down the road when the tank fully matures due to a busted seam.

Dropped it off 5/7, so almost a week and a half roughly.

As for the plumbing, I was thinking about this pipe in 1" sizing: Blue Schedule 40 Pipe (58 Inch) - Pipe & Tubing - Plumbing - Pumps & Plumbing - Bulk Reef Supply
This gate valve: Spears Gate Valve Slip x Slip - Bulk Reef Supply
This Ball Valve: Cepex Ball Valve - Bulk Reef Supply
And for return pump, this check valve: Georg Fisher Wye Check Valve - Bulk Reef Supply

ohh man, your playing with fire. 1.5 weeks from total drop off time. Probably took him at least 1/2 or full week to scrape the panels and then do the reseal. If I were you, I'd get rid of that tank. Sell it or whatever you gotta do. I can get you a brandnew 90/G for super cheap.

as far as all the plumbing supplies, they look good.

The guy on Craigslist is legit. He was recommended to me when I bought my 210 by a LFS. If I had heeded his advice I could have avoided repairing a center brace while the tank was running. He has done hundreds of reseals. It probably took a few hours to strip the silicone- not days. If you use a solvent and fine grit sand paper, it goes by extremely quick if the prep work with a razor was done right.

Yeah, it was performed by http://www.txaquariums.com/

I was supposed to pick it up last Thursday, but he said the bottom seams were still a bit soft when he checked it and recommended for me to pick it up this week. At this point, I do not think I can afford another tank for a while...
