I forgot to share my new fish purchase from this past weekend. I picked up a six line wrasse (really love these guys) and a melanurus wrasse. They are both in my 58 gallon "quarantine" tank with the purple tang I picked up from FJW several weeks ago. I have never had a melanurus wrasse before but like the color and hope that he will help keep pests a bay such as the montipora eating nudibranch.

They are nice but I am really excited about what I have coming from DD on Friday, a Tinker Butterflyfish! I have never had one but ever since seeing one online a few years ago have been craving one. DD has had one for several days and just dropped the price by $50 and has a 15% off coupon so I went for it.

The Tinky been on my list too but I really have a my crew of fish at bay.
My bio load is after extensive try outs balanced out, that means if something new comes in something else needs to go.
If I ever go for the Tinky I might drop the Bandit.
Congrats on that awesome fish.

I got my Tinker yesterday. Live Aquaria did a great job packing him. They sent him in a huge box with over 3 gallons of water. I have temporarly placed him in my 58 gallon tank for observation before moving it over to the 280.

Here he is just a few minutes out of the bag.

That's a winner right there.
Keep him well fed before he helps him self on the acans and brains.

So my Tinker had a high dollar snack last night in the quarantine tank. He ate about 80% of a nice rainbow acan colony that was in the tank. Apparently he will not be moving to the 280 any time soon. =(

LOL, :mad2: My Bandit went after a $400 scoly after it was in the tank for about 4 months, Bandit 1 scoly 0.
He and flame nipping on my SPS which is good as it promote growth and more compactor growth form from the SPS, leaves my B/W clam and rare blastos alone.
Everything else he and the flame will go after.
Oh and they will leave the rainbow and yellow gold Euphyllia's alone, only when I give them some Ranch they might go after it :hungry:
Keeping him in QT for months won't change him, these are fish from the reef and when they matured and eat corals change that they quit is slim.
For that reason I'll take small juveniles if it comes down fish that might nip/eat corals.

He ate an entire frag of green zoanthids this morning. I went ahead and removed all of the acans and zoos from the tank and also managed to catch the melanurus wrasse and moved him over to the main display. The montipora eating nudibranch have invaded my other montipora colonies. I took them all out of the tank and treated them with Coral RX. Hopefully a weekly dip and the wrasse will be good enough to eradicate them.

I woke up to find the Tinkers dead on the bottom of the tank. I am really surprised by this one. He was eating and looked healthy yesterday. I am just glad he croaked I the warranty period!

I will get my money back for now but will keep my eyes open for a smaller one. Going to hold off for a while though and make sure all of my other fish are ok.
