Like I said this suppose to be fun, I used to be stress but nothing you can do if one or two things don’t do good in your tank but that’s happen in nature as well. Enjoy your aquarium and forget about what just happen, that s my advice take it or leave it it s his choice

Alright, let's take some more time to type out what happened so we can understand. Not trying to be the grammar police or rude, but if we can't understand what you wrote, we may misinterpret the facts and give bad advice.

I'm trying to decipher what you said and I think you are saying:
  • Fish died with no signs other than staying at the bottom of the tank and breathing heavy?
  • Recently (give us a time frame, hours, minutes, days?) you did a 7.5 gallon water change (how big is your tank again).
  • You added baking soda to correct a PH swing from the 7.5 gallon water change. (How much did you ad? Did you use a calculator, What was the PH before? What do you want it at?)
  • Otherwise the tests you've done don't indicate anything wrong, but you are going to buy a new test kit tomorrow (today now) to ensure the tests results are accurate.
  • You are also setting up a QT which will take 3 hours to warm up the water and test the water.

I agree.

For me I really don't stress out too much about it, but sometimes being "stressed" is fun as it's a challenge to make something work properly. I remember when I started out in this hobby (2002) I was clueless and making mistakes left and right and was always stressed. Thanks to technology (and me having the money to buy them) the whole process has become so much easier.

ok first ive owned a rabbit i have 2 cats that fight and hate each other and a dog, ive had hamsters and escape artist frogs and fish are the most stress full ones of them all,
i have a 75 and the death time frame for the new one is unknown, ive been focusing on the cardinals but i do know this was fast, after the water change i waited and the fish are doing much better and i investigated my test kit deeper and it turns out its from 1993 so that might explain a lot, im planning on trying to fix the water more but i have life and now cash problems, the quartine is no longer an option for me if i cant test it well i tried to set up an acclimation area but it spilled soaked my room, im preparing for a 20% water change and haven't been able to get a new test kit, i measured out the soda don't worry but im still in a frenzy like a state almost of it comes out one end and i fix and forget cause i have 13 other problems
the worst part is the second i try and add new fish after being stable for so long it goes to hell and i still have to finish treatment so i don't breed super stuff

Wow, that is an old testing kit and is useless at this point.

Since salt can be had so cheap ( see Reef Crystals on Amazon ($30-35 for 200g)) I would highly suggest doing a 20% (15g) water change daily for the next several days. You should have a refractometer and be using RO/DI water. If you don't have a refractometer with ATC (I think all of them have it, then borrow one or something). At the very least RO water from a water store can work. This should get your tank stabilized immediately and really not that expensive. I would honestly not be that worried about the PH as long as you are using RO/DI water.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds to me like this hobby might not be for you at the moment. At least not the saltwater version. There are a lot of moving parts to keeping a saltwater tank (more than fresh water) that requires some outlay of cash, something that it sounds like you are short on at the moment. Why risk the lives of fish for something that you are having trouble figuring out? Maybe you aren't one to walk away from a challenge (like me) but the cash needed part isn't up for discussion. Saltwater tanks require significant expenses that freshwater does not (as in the above mentioned refractometer, RODI resin, salt, text kits, rock, etc etc etc).

At least with fresh water, water changes are almost free (some filtration and conditioning needed) and the fish are a lot less expensive. There are some beautiful fresh water tanks out there. I've considered converting my tank a few times because of the work and expense/frustration with saltwater.

Think about it.

well ive been improving the obe problem in fact i can get a considerable amount of emergency funds when i need and ive scraped many projects ive wanted to do like build a good desktop the main cash flow problems occure when its an upgrade in emergancys i can probloyly get around 100 or more from my brother alone (hes a sucker for pets), i will admit when i started i had a 30- gallon and thought spend maybe 100 bucks and feed every day and since then i learned so much more and ive been on the edge of bailing my fish out and giving them away but im not stubborn or stupid when i make mistakes i come here and i read this forum in my free time so i can soak up as much info as possible and that might be why you always see me when its bad cause when its good there's not much to tell and yes its been titanic bad but now i can at least get closer to finishing making a 50 gallon batch of water to change out of the tank soon and im working on taking things even slower im going to wait at least 3 months before i add in a damsel to fill the hole zebra left and quarantine him
