I've been driving to Dallas for NextWave which is awesome.
BUT it's always worrisome traveling back with purchased corals
after an overnight stay and another 5 hours back

NextWave has always been worth it. Great speakers, and great corals for
reasonable prices. So MARSH has patterned a similar conference for Houston:
Reef Currents.

I've got my ticket for Reef Currents in Feb!

Everyone needs to help us spread the word! There are so many reefers in the Houston area that are not on MARSH. We need to make sure EVERYONE with a saltwater tank (or even freshwater) knows about Reef Currents and wants to come.

Yes, it is. This is MARSH's event. We partnered with Tyree's Coral Farmers Market for the event and he is helping with national exposure and vendors. Nice to see it coming together - has been a while coming!

I've posted the Reef Currents info on some of the Houston Facebook group. I hope they read it and plan to come.

Awesome Raleigh, We have some reciprocity with other regional reef clubs and will be posting there, just like the New Orleans conference is posting here. However, nothing will bring people out better than word of mouth so facebook and other connections anyone can think of to spread the word will benefit everyone as a club.

I second on making flyers that some of us can print out and give out to LFS and local Petcos as well.

We are hitting everything electronically so far (facebook, other reef forums, MARSH, ReefCurrents.org, Steve Tyree's website, etc.) The one thing we are lacking right now I believe is physical information. I don't think anyone is working on flyers, cards, etc. We do have an ad in the Reef Hobbyist magazine but that is it. It would be awesome if someone with some artistic ability could help us come up with something to actually hand out at stores or hang on store windows.

Any interest in opening booths to wholesalers such as Route 66 Marine? They as well as SDC have been attending shows.
