Did you not read the above.does he sell fish though?
Just placed a $200.00 order and I hadn’t read this thread. I asked him the same question. One thing about John he seems to be very on top of his business, which is a family business by the way. Responds quickly to inquiries.
ya i noticed but i can't delete and it would be worse to ask someone to
FYI, his snails have Vermetids on them. Most of us have them, but if you don’t I’d suggest knocking them off and using a Dremel on the shells. Vermetids are microscopic.
I have heard this on a lot of shipments because there is a high amount of ammonia from a full day of shipping. Getting them out of the ammonia is very important. Just temp acclimation then drop them in is what they recommend. He does not recommend drip acclimation, which for inverts I was always told in the past was pretty important. I will go on his protocol.
That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the info! The problem is not your 30 min acclimation.
The problem is when you acclimate, the PH difference between the water they came (which will be low) and the water you use to acclimate (higher PH) will cause a big ammonia spike, hence a much more chance of killing your new inverts.
