If the Naso does not want to eat well not much I can do about it. Putting more food into the tank is not going to make the situation any better if he does not eat it. I do have some frozen brine shrimp in the freezer. I might try that later. I had a yellow tang from 2006 to 2018. Over 12 years and see doggie with her pizza Slice. She will be 17 soon... so.

24 hours almost and all fish do not care about small sheet of Nori. It is floating in area I feed the fish. See how it goes and will leave it there.

A lot of fish are used to a different food source in the wild and sometimes its good to isolate them in their own tank and try different foods on them until you find something that they will eat without polluting your whole tank. With new fish (for me), I use a qt where I can try different foods and siphon out what they don't like. That way, you can use a shotgun approach. Also they are sometimes intimidated by other fish in a new tank and won't eat but rather sulk in the corner.

I once got a difficult achilles tang to eat by rubber banding spinach leaves to a rock. That is the ONLY thing he showed an interest in. But it wasn't the first thing I tried. Probably the 15th thing I tried when I was finally at wits end. I just went to the grocery stores and bought about 5 different greens and put them all in the tank.

Remember, this fish probably hasn't eaten in weeks. He was collected and shipped and moved from tank to tank. He is already starving and getting him to eating soon is very important.

Agree 100%, time is not your friend with these little guys. I’ve had some success by adding garlic to food. I would avoid flakes because they break apart very fast and create a lot of sludge in the water. Seaweed Extreme is a good pellet for tangs as is PE pellets…small pellets will be easier for him. Spinach is a good option and I’ve also had some luck with broccoli that I cooked enough to make it softer. You can wrap nori around the broccoli to make it more attractive and I’ve used mastik food smeared into the broccoli floret. Mastik is very stinky (that’s a good thing! Lol) and it sticks for a long time and doesn’t break down in the water for awhile. I have some that I can give you. I also have some pellets that you can try too. The only thing I’m out of is garlic.

Yes he is also getting dark. Now I am thinking frozen brine shrimp later today. Double pinching the flaked pellet food. Taking 5 gallons out putting 5 gallons in the tank later this week. I have never had a fish starve to death but stores usually do not sell a fish they just got the day before.

Nasos can be picky about unfamiliar foods. Mine won’t touch flakes because he doesn’t like the texture. I would be happy to put together a care package for your little one…I have a lot of different frozen foods, herbivore pellets, mastik, you name it. The only thing I am out of is garlic liquid. Feel free to message me on here or text 832-660-8486

Yup. 1300 miles or something like that. I once did a Houston Galveston cruise on the GOM trip. I have been to 29 us states... All over Canada too. I am not boasting ok. It is just friendly conversation.

Well this is not looking good at all. He is just getting too thin. He will get too weak to swim in the next few days and I will find him stuck to a filter intake. There is a small sheet of Nori still floating which no fish has any interest in. Today I gave 2 double pinches of dry flake and pellet mix. I usually only give 1 pinch. I am now going to drop in a small cube of frozen brine shrimp. If he is still around in 7 days. I will let you know. Thanks to those who helped me out. I will try it again but it will be larger and not brought in day before. I got this one from London Ontario..an hour away. It will have to be on my next trip to Toronto in-order to possibly get what I need. I go to Toronto only a few times a year for pleasure.

That’s awesome! I’m a homebody and always get stressed when I travel. I admire folks who get out and see the world 😁

I am going to buy some romaine lettuce and use an elastic to secure to a rock. It is now or never
I’m so sorry your little one is struggling…it’s a terrible thing to go through. Please keep us updated and know that I’m sending good vibes your way. He may decide to pick up and eat still. Try to keep his environment as calm as possible - if you can keep the tank lights low/off and cover the front of the tank so he doesn’t see movement in the room it should help reduce stress for him.

Ok I will cover the tank. He does look happy swimming around with his new tank mates. Just he shows no interest in eating anything. As far as lighting ..lights are on in the house 24 now. I am on the look out for any more rats. Do not get your hopes up people this is all bad for Naso.

I'd try a few varieties, not just romaine. Like I said, the achilles I had would only go after spinach. It may be the color that offers the initial attraction. Algae is darker green, as is spinach. Maybe that's part of it. He may not even give something lighter green a second glance.

If he takes a teeny bite and doesn't like it, he may never come back to that. Therefore, offer many options. And rubber band them to rocks so it mimics the grazing that they do in the wild. Don't just let it float around the tank. I doubt they graze on free floating stuff in the wild so you can't expect them to suddenly change everything they ever known to adapt to your tank.
