Does anybody know what part of broccoli do I feed to the Naso? The seeds? I might try spinach as well.

Feed nori everyday. They're grazers meaning they look for food all day. If you're not providing enough feedings he might not overcome his shrunken belly. I got a yellow tang who was QT'd but had a pinched tummy. After about 2 weeks he fattened up. No problems eating I just don't think he was feed enough cause of QT, but he's a pretty and healthy YT. If ur tank handle a half cube of food you don't have enough biolife in that large tank, or your not feeding enough. Everything needs food. Corals included.

I have a 125 with no sump or protein skimmer. That is why. I am more into watching pretty fish swim around than looking at the same thing. Nathen is totally uninterested in anything I give him. He might of nibbled a bit at Misys Shrimp...maybe...I am going to add carbon to the tank in the morning to help me clean it up. Will probably try spinach and broccoli tomorrow.

How big is it? Does it eat?

I had better luck with bigger ones - most of the time the small ones are finicky eaters and slowly starve.

I had two 6-8” in a 500/g and they did very well.

Any fish you buy from local fish store make sure it eats. I NEVER buy a fish unless it eats at the fish store.

Naso is a very finicky eater especially when small.

good luck with it hopefully it eats soon.

Ya I am with a friend in Chatham Ontario today. They have 2 small coral reef stores Sarnia has nothing
for marine and is a bigger city. They sold me Kent Marine Garlic Extreme. Rather pricy but they say that when they get a fish that does not eat they give them this. Ya I have not bought a fish from a store in years..just private sales. With Covid Naso Tangs are hard to come by unless you are in Toronto in these parts. So I took a chance and went for it. He did not look too bad this morning before I headed out.

Ya I think he is eating Misys. I think. So will feed that and try and to Wein him off of it. I am hoping it is not just garlic in that stuff for the price I payed for it. But ya just got to do what you got to do.

I recently got a new filter plus new romano filter box. I did this thinking I could use it to have better water quality for less hardy corals. Now I am thinking the Lord made me do it to keep a Naso and all the Misys I will have to feed him.

Nope. I could of traded the Amtrack Engine for a sump. But that would of been half the size of my 125. From the 5 dimensions he gave me. I had a prisim protein skimmer but never got any foam so I sold it. I added some charcoal yesterday. I will do a test on Sunday to see how bad my parameters are.

seems like you're putting a lot of organics into your water column. if you want to polish the water, I feel like just running a pump filter into a filter sock would remove stuff out of the water easier than your sponge filter set up. FIlter socks are easy to swap out.

If your idea was to add the sponge as a way to host beneficial bacteria to help consume nitrates, then I feel there other better options out there that require less maintenance. Seachem matrix, marienepure, etc etc.

my 2 cents is if you have any questions about water quality, you should check and check often. If anything just to watch trend lines. At least that way you can see if what youre doing is helping or hurting.

Yes you are right but every little bit helps. Plus my romano filter box is a bit unsightly. Good news though. My 3 tangs are having a great time finishing off the romaine lettuce... I think he was just stressed out. Poor thing. I think I will give a half Misys today. Other half tomorrow then go from there. I did put some (Chatham in) Kent (County) marine Garlic stuff on it. Did it help who knows.

This lettuce I put in yesterday. Do you microwave it first to soften it up? I did not for this batch.

I like to consistently feed Hikari pellets and Asian store seaweed :) My tangs have never gotten HILLE or showed any signs of malnutrition. I also feed Hikari Marine S. I like these Hikari pellets because both work in auto-feeders perfectly.
