I’ll chime in... I think tapatalk is crap, old school, uncontrollable and blocks content that we need to survive as a club. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So I have an Android, and I do find the font to be smaller on my device when I access the MARSH website vs. Taptalk.

I use taptalk more than the website because I find posting pics and moderating much easier for me because I am on the go so much.

But I will say that Taptalk is not sponsor friendly. Our awesome sponsors pay their dues, in part, for the benefit of being advertised, supported, and celebrated all over our website, and that also keeps Gregg busy creating all of our great banners, but NONE of these are visible on Taptalk. So our members miss out on seeing Sponsor advertisments, special announcements, and sale updates. Also, you can not participate in voting on TT. The only advertising images you will see on TT are theirs.

so just my 2 cents.. i seriously doubt that the tat app is a factor for driving traffic here. I honestly have been ready to throw my phone against wall though becasue every link i clicked on marsh made me select safari or tat.. i scrubbed the temp memories and cleared all data.. i still got that additional step. made me nuts. it still does it sometimes. if the user experience is a weighing factor at all... i say ditch it asap.

I actually don't check the forum as often because I don't know how to get this forum on an easy to use app. I also find myself missing threads that I'm actually interested in all the time...

I would say use something like Facebook or Instagram but they completely destroyed coral selling/trading there ... It was an easy platform to trade on like this one.

What I find hilarious is that you would think that there would be a massive forum/social media platform where you can connect people nationwide or locally (up to the user) to share the hobby/trade/sell. I think the closest thing is reef2reef with localized clubs/orgs operating in their own bubbles.

I think the hurdle is getting all of the major clubs nationwide to operate under the same platform and keep the selling and sponsorship behind a paywall that benefits the individual clubs and membership. Granted I'm not a web designer/app creator so I don't know how challenging this is. And I also know once money comes into play some people have a tendency to get greedy and shortsighted instead of maintaining a vision that supports the bigger picture and benefits the average hobbyist and small business.

You can always sign up for notifications when someone comments on a thread or whatever. No reason to miss anything. I like local club because under normal circumstances, you have tank tours, frag swaps and local feedback for lfs. Also, buying, trading living things is much better in person.

Also, would you believe that some members here don’t do FB?

I tried tapatalk a long time ago and found it to be less user friendly. My iPhone always seemed easier to navigate with. It gets annoying having to tell tapatalk that I don’t want to use it every time I get on here. To me it seems that somebody is trying to make money on that app. Just my opinion.

Speaking of nefarious reasons..

Everything anyone has ever typed into a google search box has been saved forever.

How far do you want to go?
If you can activate your phone by using a phrase like "ok google" or "hey siri", your phone is listening, literally 24/7 and logging everything.
The phone sends what it hears to a server, server checks if it was a trigger phrase, then sends phone instructions on how to respond. If it wasnt a trigger phrase, phone does nothing.

The buried lead there is the phone isn't waiting for you to say a trigger phrase before recording you, its recording and logging ALWAYS.

That shouldn’t be a real concern unless your hiding something? 🤷🏻‍♂️
