    Need a cheap light base

I'm going to be constructing a frame to hold a panorama module over my picotope. I am going to be using a rectangular aluminum rod bent into shape. I need to find 2 bases to attach the rods to. Any ideas? It doesn't necessarily need to be water safe, but something heavy. Is there a way to...

Planning a Pico - need perspective

I'm planning a pico (3gal picotope). It's going to be an all-invert tank, with no fish. So far my stocking is as follows; 4 (2 pair) sexy shrimps 1-2 pom pom crab 3 bumblebee shrimp 1 mini yellow cucumber I'm going to put in a mini carpet anemone for the sexy shrimp to perch on. I'm going to...

    Clam Homocide!!!!

Came home to this today. My clam was perfectly healthy. I noticed a few small snails and attributed it to hermit crabs... WRONG!!!

    Native collected trading

While people are out collecting, I thought I would start a reference list for what we are all looking for. Basically list out what you are looking for, and the maximum you want. If you catch something that someone else has listed, you can contact them and organize a trade. Remember; this is...

    Bleaching Favia with 4xT5?

I got a nice Favia/favites about 2 months ago. When I first put the piece into my tank, only the very top of the coral apeared to be bleaching. I attributed this to a lack of truly acclimating the fav to the light. I moved the coral down to about 1 foot deep and re-oriented the coral so the...

Getting a T/R clown to host

Just as the title says. I've had a pair of tank bred ocellaris for a month. Now that I've picked up an awesome anemone (thanks chino), I want to get them to host. Ideas? I've heard a ton of crazy stories, but I want to know if any of them have actually worked for someone.

How would you describe this shroom?

I picked up this guy a little while ago, and really have no idea how to describe it. The protrusions out of the flesh are crazy, and it fluoresces the best shade of green. There is a second shroom budding, and if these guys behave anything like other shroom, I'll be piffing them soon.

If you could choose only one...

Carbon, GFO, Biopellets, which one? I have an extra Eheim 2213 lying around, and I figure I should put it to good use. Now I just need to decide what media to run. I use RO/DI water, so common heavy metals and other contaminants aren't an issue, which is what would initially make me lean away...

    Native Violet goby

So in my quest to do everything out of the ordinary, I want to keep the native Dragon Goby, also called a violet goby in my native tank. At one point petsmart would sell them as full freshwater fish, but (fortunately) they don't anymore. I am in the process of tracking down one of these guys...

    Starting up my fuge

I'm starting up both my tanks now, so I am trying to plan a timeline for everything. I want to start growing macro in my fuge, but I don't want to pull nutrients out from the cycle. I'm doing a fishless cycle, so things are slow as it is. When is a good time to start growing macro? Also, I'm...

New here, but not so new

I've been around a while, and been fairly active on the box, but just haven't gotten on here. Now that my two salt tanks are cycling, I figure I should jump on the bandwagon. I've got a standard 30 gallon that is going to be all native. Oyster reef, macro-algae, and quite a few fishes. The...
