Kyle... they are not being rude but just honest. When I first got into this hobby, I had to buy a few pieces at a time. It took almost 3 months for me to start my first tank. I understand that you are 15 years old but you do have a older brother that you told me was 18 and was able to drive. Have him take you out of your neighborhood to mow yards. With the two of you, you both can make twice the money. Your other choice is wait til you are 16 and you can get a part time job.

You have to understand that everyone has families to care for financially and they also have their own tanks to care for. It is one thing for one of us to ask for help in an emergency but I have been a member off and on since 2007 and I have never heard of someone constantly begging for hand outs. Being a father, I would never allow my son to be able to bring in a hobby that I was not going to participate in. I went out and bought him a dog, turtles, birds, and the saltwater tank but with the understanding that it was going to be ME that had to take care of them. The dog and turtles are going to live a LONG TIME. :)

I have read where people have given you a fish and a couple of days later, it dies. That fish cost someone money and the fish died in the hands of someone inexperienced. To most of us, the livestock that we put into our tanks becomes sort of like another child(children) to us and to see something happen to it bothers us. We take the time to feed, do water changes, buy the correct items that it needs... to see it mature from a frag into a colony. Same goes with the fish.

To end this post, buddy, you don't have the financial means to take care of this hobby. You have to be able to drop money just like that if something happens or you will destroy the whole tank. Collect piece by piece, buy everything you need in due time, and continue trying to mow yards or what ever you feel is the means of earning money and at the end... you will understand the pride of YOUR tank because you did it on your own. Believe me, it feels good when someone compliments your hard work. Good luck!!! :)

+1 michael

stop buying fish... buy corals. they are easier to take care of and can be traded for more corals. if you must have fish, just do 3 or 4 and do not get a skimmer. they cost money and you do not need one because you cannot afford enough stuff to make a big mess.
I am pretty sure someone told you not to put a tang in a small tank. you had a purple one die. that fish was born to swim up to 25 miles in 1 day. they need to have 6 times their own full grown body length of swimming room. the only saltwater tank I am aware you had was the 36 bowfront of your brothers. that thing will likely never be able to house a mandarin either. you need over 100g for each of those. it might work if you grow your own pods. frozen food will not give all the nutrition they need. that fish cannot live on pellets alone. i have had them die on me and they were eating frozen brine, live brine, i had lots of pods, and they ate pellets. there are many good resources to look up on here. if you bought that tang that probably wasted 50+$. that is probably more than you need to get water in that 46. start with zoas and star polyps, those are the easiest to take care of and should not cause disasters when they die, like leathery corals.

City pets always seems to have a good supply of bulkheads. You'd have to call around to a couple stores in your area to see though, not familiar with many LFS over where you live.

remember you need a 1" bulkhead and a 3/4" one.. the 3/4" one needs to be threaded on both sides and the other one is probably best slip to slip. down the road you may want to buy some loc line for the return. that way you can direct the flow.

Being a kid is no excuse here. There are rules about posting and you need to follow them. This is a general forum for actual questions to needs people have, not your personal craigslist.

Kyle... You are asking for people's help and for handouts. You are still a kid and when you type to ADULTS like that... it makes them not want to do a thing for you. I have noticed that when someone post something in the "SALE" forum, you think that you have the right to demand that other people are not allowed to post. Who the seller (which is a MEMBER) decides to sell to is their right. When someone gives you advice or tells you something you do not like... you give a smart mouthed answer. Again, remember that most of the people who help you out are adult! SHOW RESPECT!!!
