Just cleaned out my reactor yesterday to refill it. Luckily, @gregg had a bag of reborn that he bought to use as rubble and I had about half a bag leftover from a year ago when I filled it. I’ve got about another year before I need to find more so I’m keeping my eyes open.
I’ve been talking to several people and from the feedback I’m getting from pros is that the new smaller media is basically the same. No difference in dissolve/melt. Melts at the same pH. No adverse affects with their tanks.

You be surprised if you Google “Coral Bones” at how close it looks to reborn. That’s what I’m gonna start using. Number 15 is a good size. Look for this bag if you can find it. A friend of mine has been using it since reborn is smaller and he likes it a lot. Says it’s the same as the old reborn. I’ll try to find their source. His LFS gets it in obviously overseas, but he doesn’t know where.

thank you. I think they can get better.

so it’s common to run fla crushed coral in a second chamber. I’ve found that crushed coral on my second chamber depletes at about 1” in 2 months.

ive heard of a few shops running crushed coral as the only media in BOTH chambers.

any thoughts on running crushed solely?

They look pretty darn good. I think the key is to get it as close to TLF as possible!! That old media had a high melting range which is what I’m after. Anything that melts at low pH (like Triton) I’m avoiding.

Just to refresh your memories:
