Don't buy the new thing for your tank this week!

Hey Marsh members! I still remember when I came to Houston for your MACNA event. Can you believe that was five years ago? We had such a good time, and a bunch of DFWMAS members made the trip south to hang out with all of y'all. I'm encouraging you to NOT buy a new coral, new MH bulb, new...

    Thousands of Aquacultured corals!

Hello everyone. I thought I'd make the rounds encouraging everyone within driving distance to attend our club's Next Wave conference. This annual event brings in hundreds of people each year to learn how to be better aquarists. We fly in four speakers to share their knowledge. This year we...

    Hey MARSH members!

Reefkeeping Magazine wants to feature your club in a future Club Showcase article. Some other clubs here in Texas have been featured, and we don't want your club to be left out. We suggest you assign someone to do the write up, or do it as a group effort if you prefer. Include some cool...

    LFSs in Houston?

A friend of mine is in Houston for a couple of days. Do you have a LFS page that I can point him to for him to peruse? Or what would be the best stores to visit? He likes exotic fish and exotic corals (SPS). I thought of T&T, but let me know any others.

    PAR meter Group Buy

Mods, I don't know what forum to put this in, so feel free to move it... Guys, Reefcast is organizing a group buy for PAR meters. If you've thought about buying one but thought it was too expensive, how does 40% off sound?! That got your attention, right? The QMSS-E meter retails for $249...

    MACNA Houston documentation

Do you have the MARSH MACNA buried on this site somewhere? I was trying to find the name of the speaker that spoke about AEFW at your conference. Anyone remember? macnaxviii.com no longer works. :(

    Hey Brian (Project DIBS)

I stumbled across this snail in my sump last night during flashlight duty, and thought it might be one of yours. Care to confirm? It's big, Astrea Turbo-sized. I don't know if there are more in my system, but I know you were tracking survivors from shipping as well as longevity, so take...

    You guys are so lucky!

Not only do you have great people like Shane and Kim to keep your club running smoothly, you've got people like Susan, Eric, & Frank as experts both online as well as to speak at your meetings. You've got some amazing reefkeepers in your club as well. And FWIW, if you are just a guest on this...

    Next Wave 2008 - Jan 26, 2008

DFWMAS is hosting its one day conference again. This is our 6th conference, and we are very excited. We have 5 speakers lined up, and will have vendors present as well to sell their wares. The location is at a country club, so it'll be a very pleasant venue. The raffle prizes includes a...

    Hopefully y'all are okay

I've been keeping up with the news a little, and just wanted to send my hopes that everyone and their tanks will be okay.

Interested in helping me with a project?

If you've got a reef that is at least 15 months old and medium-to-heavily stocked, please contact me. I'll need to know the size of your reef, feeding habits (times & amounts), skimmer used, if you are dosing kalkwasser, and how often you do a water change. A picture of your reef would be nice too.

Have you seen Fishcraze's reef yet?

Well, by now you may have seen Quoc's top down shots. If not, here's his thread: http://www.marshreef.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=20561 And here are the pictures I took on Saturday. His tank was primarily lit with 14,000K bulbs and my camera simply didn't want to get the...

    My latest acquisitions

After visiting with your club, I left for home with two new pets from Karen (y'all's Onyx breeder). Meet Jelly Meet Belly :) While they were acclimating when I got back to Ft Worth, I modified Casper's old tank with a tiny overflow. It was then set up over my sump for the time being so it...

    To all MARSH members...

If you are a member of MARSH, you absolutely have to positively attend MACNA. Go all three days. Make it happen. Figure out what you have to do, and commit to the event. Look, I'm just a hobbyist like the rest of you. And my first MACNA was the Ft Worth one, and the only reason I even...
