    Sun Coral

Hey y'all - anybody have any thriving sun corals that you'd like to show off? I'm considering getting back in the hobby, not going crazy again or anything, but just to have another beloved sun coral. And a pearly-headed jawfish. And threadfin goby and partner pistol shrimp. And mandarin...

    Problem Posting New Thread

Hi! I need to post an "I'm selling everything reef-related that I own in one giant inseparable bundle" in the Used Equipment Buy/Sell forum, but am unable to post a new thread. How do I get this corrected? I've read all of the FAQ's, I've submitted my agreement to the forum TOS, and don't...

    Christian Reese Lassen Cake

I finally got an order for a cake where I actually LOVE the subject! I painstakingly recreated various Christian Reese Lassen prints by hand on this cake I did yesterday. Okay, I have an edible image printer and printed them out, then put the edible images on the cake. Isn't it beeeutiful? :D

WOOHOO! $1.93 Gas And a Reprieve From $500 Light Bills!

Ah, finally a day that's a tiny bit cool. Last week I paid a $500 light bill and can't wait for cool weather to stay here awhile! On the way to take my kids to school this morning, I saw regular unleaded gas for $1.93 at the Valero on the Beltway 8 at Genoa-Red Bluff. I've been getting gas...

Can you take the guts out of one iPod and put it in another?

My son's Nano got toasted a few months ago, and while it plays and the computer sees everything on its hard drive (flash drive, whatever), the screen is cracked. The light comes on but the picture is just straight vertical lines. I felt badly for him and bought him another one, and now would...

    Karen, Puma, got hummers?

Happily, we have lots of hummers here at the new house! Haven't shot any pics yet, but I will. The landcaping at the house already has well established flowering plants that the hummers are enjoying, and I finally put the feeders out yesterday. We have a buttload of swallowtail butterflies...

Who's got the best prices on salt these days (any brand)?

I decided to take all but one tank down to prepare for moving and need to make some fresh saltwater to store/cook my live rock in for awhile. I don't have any algae problems but some of that rock is more than 5 years old, from our very first reef tank, so there's quite a bit of...

Can you calculate this tank volume for me?

I have a bowfront tank that I'm selling and have no idea what volume it will hold. These dimensions are external, so I know it will hold less than what will be calculated. Tank length: 36" Tank height: 21" Tank depth, front to back, at the ends: 12" Tank depth, front to back, at its widest...

Best way/substance to glue Spa-Flex to slip PVC fittings?

Oh my God, I just had the Spa-Flex tubing blow out of the PVC fitting that led from the return pump to the return in the tank. Holy moly. I know alot of you use Spa-Flex tubing. Obviously PVC glue does not do well bonding Spa-Flex to slip PVC fittings. What does?? ~ Sherri

    Oceanic salt

Anyone know who's got the best price on Oceanic salt in town? I'm looking for a 200 gallon bucket. I think the last time I bought some it was $35. Thanks, Sherri

My tank and I are dying

I've read the horror stories and have tried to imagine how it would feel to watch your sps tank die, and now I know. It's like being at a never-ending funeral after receiving a horrendous kick to the gut. My awesome hot-pink birdsnest, gone. My huge gorgeous multi-tiered swirling orange cap...

    Watermill Express water?

I'm having problems with my RO unit, and at the rate my 3 tanks are evaporating water, I'm going to go have to buy some for awhile until I get my RO unit problem figured out. I've read that quite a few of you use Watermill Express RO water for your tanks. I would really like to talk to the...

    What's your opinion of SpectraPure?

Someone gave me a SpectraPure LiterMeter III dosing thing and three of the LiterMeter pumps. One of the pumps doesn't work, and he said it never worked right out of the box but he never had the time to send it in. Anyone have any experience in sending in parts to SpectraPure for repair without...

Are there any structural engineers here?

Since this is reef-related, I'm posting it in Gen. Reefkeeping. :) We are opening up a load-bearing wall in our house and are in need of a structural engineer or other similarly-educated smartie to provide us with the proper construction plans needed to do such a thing. This construction is...

Any plumbing for extreme dummies sites?

I have to do some plumbing work and my husband is not available to help me. I've never done this before and the tank has to be up and running by 8 AM on Saturday because I am taking over the contents of someone else's reef tank who has to get their ruined hardwood floors redone before...

    Oceanic salt: alkalinity problem corrected?

I need to pick up a couple of buckets of salt and would really like to get Oceanic again, but am tired of having to buffer it to correct its alkalinity and pH deficiency. Has anyone purchased any very recently? Are the alk & pH problems corrected yet? Thanks Sherri
